Community Liaison
Multiple one-year term positions, working part-time (40) to full-time (75) hours bi-weekly, working in any Yukon community outside of Whitehorse

These positions are restricted to qualified candidates of Canadian Indigenous ancestry, with a priority for qualified Yukon First Nation candidates.
These positions are hybrid; the successful candidate can expect to work from home, on-site at community events, and at YESAB-designated offices. This position requires frequent travel.
Purpose of the position:
Reporting to the Assessment District Manager, the Community Liaison engages with First Nations, governments, community members, and Umbrella Final Agreement boards and committees to support their effective participation in YESAB’s environmental and socio-economic impact assessment process across the Yukon. The community liaison is responsible for:
- Representing YESAB at events, including community meetings and hearings in various locations across the Yukon, and contributes to ensuring YESAB’s processes are culturally effective and appropriate.
- Working with the Assessment District Manager to develop plans and strategies to maintain and strengthen government and community relationships
- Travels throughout the territory to Yukon communities, frequently visits Designated Offices, attends community events, and increases presence.

What we are looking for in a candidate:
- Applied knowledge and cultural sensitivity regarding Indigenous peoples and their cultures, worldviews, and languages.
- Applied knowledge of community involvement and community participation techniques.
- Experience planning meetings with Indigenous governments and communities.
- Experience communicating with Elders, Indigenous peoples, and communities in a culturally appropriate and respectful manner.
- General knowledge of Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Act, regulations, rules, and processes.
- Applied knowledge of the Umbrella Final Agreement (UFA), Yukon First Nations and Self-Government Agreements.
