Associate Project Manager

Full time | Mid-Level | Reports to the Director, Enterprise Project Management

Hybrid role (2 days in-office requirement).

 

POSITION SUMMARY

WealthONE is seeking an Associate Project Manager with solid foundational experience in project delivery and a desire to grow into larger, more complex initiatives. This role is ideal for an individual with 2-5 years of project management experience who is comfortable managing small to medium-sized projects, supporting senior project leaders, and working in a fast-paced, regulated financial environment.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Planning & Initiation:

  • Lead the planning, initiation, and setup of small to medium-sized projects or workstreams within larger programs.
  • Define project objectives, scope, and deliverables in collaboration with Project Sponsors, senior management, and key stakeholders.
  • Support project intake and business case development, leveraging the EPMO’s Project Management Procedures and templates (including the New Initiative Risk Assessment, when required).

Project Delivery & Execution:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and artifacts – including project charters, schedules, RAID logs, communication plans, and status reports – using EPMO standards.
  • Coordinate internal teams and external vendors/partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Drive successful execution and delivery by managing timelines, budgets, resources, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Track progress against milestones, KPIs, and success criteria, escalating risks and issues as needed.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Facilitate collaboration across teams to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Inspire and motivate stakeholders and team members to support a high-performing project environment.
  • Prepare and lead project meetings, ensuring clear communication and follow-up on decisions and action items.

Governance & Reporting:

  • Prepare high-quality project status reports for EPM governance forums.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure audit readiness.
  • Support portfolio-level reporting and resource forecasting as required.

Risk & Quality Management:

  • Proactively identify, assess, and develop strategies/quality control to mitigate potential risks and overcome obstacles.
  • Address issues as they arise to keep the project on track.
  • Establish and maintain a risk register and escalation protocols.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.


REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in a business-related field.
  • 2-5 years of project management experience, preferably within financial services, banking, or regulated environments.
  • Experience leading smaller projects or workstreams independently.
  • Exposure to technology, operations, or business transformation projects.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Solid understanding of project management fundamentals (Waterfall and/or Agile).
  • Proficiency with project management tool such as MS Project, Azure DevOps, JIRA, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Critical and analytical mindset for overcoming unexpected challenges and adaptability to adjust.
  • Ability to develop and execute risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to provide direction, and motivation to stakeholders and dedicated project team members.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills for interacting with stakeholders (Projects Sponsors, team members, vendors, and executives).
  • Negotiation skills with vendors, and stakeholders to secure resources and resolve conflicts.

Nice to Have:

  • CAPM, PMP, Agile certifications, or equivalent coursework.
  • Experience in small financial institutions, fintech, or environments undergoing modernization.
