Director, Marketing

This is a fixed-term position (12 to 18 months - maternity leave coverage)

Reporting to the Vice-President & Chief Credit Officer, the Director, Marketing plays a pivotal role in developing and executing strategic marketing initiatives to drive brand awareness, customer acquisition/retention, and revenue growth. The Director, Marketing is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all marketing activities, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to achieve company objectives, increase market penetration, and build brand awareness.
  • Manage the marketing budget, allocate resources effectively, and ensure cost-effective marketing initiatives.
  • Build and maintain a proficiency in marketing planning, traditional, online, and interactive media, media relations, sponsorships and events, business development, and ongoing relationship marketing.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media partners, agencies, and vendors to maximize marketing impact.
  • Manage multiple projects and stakeholders and support corporate projects.
  • Develop and coordinate special events, sponsorships, fundraising activities, etc., with existing and new partners and industry associations.
  • Generate, manage, and optimize integrated digital marketing campaigns across various channels to support business strategies and overall organizational awareness, including digital marketing, social media, email marketing, advertising, SEO/SEM, Google Ads, social media advertising, etc.
  • Lead the creation of compelling content, manage brand guidelines and elements, and oversee brand development including website copy, social media posts, e-newsletters, case studies, marketing collateral, and brand assets.
  • Manage bank website content, design, function modules, and relevant third-party agencies.
  • Coordinate the production of regularly scheduled and ad hoc communications, ensuring materials are accurate, suitable for the audience, and delivered within budget and timelines.
  • Monitor and analyze marketing performance metrics, generate reports, and provide actionable insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate ongoing improvement in marketing return on investment through impact measuring and the reporting process.
  • Drive employee engagement and a culture of belonging through enhanced information sharing and communication strategies.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
  • Identify gaps in communication and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other departments including Sales, Operations, IT, and Compliance to grow the brand of the Bank.
  • Conduct market research and analyze industry trends to identify opportunities for growth and competitive advantage.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and marketing best practices to drive innovation and stay ahead of the competition.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in marketing, business, finance, or a related field.
  • MBA or other relevant accreditation or qualifications an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Financial Services marketing experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing principles, strategies, best practices, banking products, services, and industry’s regulatory and compliance requirements in Canada.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media management, email marketing, content management systems, and analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing marketing campaigns that drive measurable results.
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling content and deliver impactful presentations.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft365 and Adobe Suite.
