Position Summary

The Junior Financial Analyst is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, especially, the reconciliation and follow up for the client initiated and related transactions for clearing accounts.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform the daily reconciliation for multiple clearing accounts.
  • Investigate the discrepancies or pending items and proactively initiate the communication with Operations and IT for the follow up.
  • Post journal entries in banking system to correctly reflect the Bank Statement on a daily basis.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of procedures for the reconciliation functions.
  • Provide financial data if required.
  • Support the other functions for backup.
  • Support audit financial disclosures if needed.
  • Assist in financial audits and internal audit by providing the walk through for the reconciliation and follow up processes and the data.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management, department heads, and cross-functional teams, to provide financial data related with clearing accounts
  • Present financial findings in a clear and concise manner.

Core Competencies & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Accounting designation (CPA) or enrolled in CPA program would be an asset.
  • Previous experience in financial analysis, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of financial analysis techniques, accounting principles, and financial modeling.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as Excel, financial modeling software, and data visualization tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify trends.
  • Solid understanding of banking products, services, and financial markets.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis, reporting, and record-keeping.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey financial insights to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build effective relationships.
