Position Summary
The Director, Underwriting (DUW) is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the Residential Lending Credit team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Underwriters and Support members in the review and processing of Mortgage Applications. Recommend and spearhead changes to the underwriting lifecycle.
- Review applications within Delegated Lending Authority or Recommend Approval to the Chief Credit Officer.
- Collaborate with members of the leadership team and other departments to achieve overall Enterprise goals.
- Collaborate with Risk Management and recommend to Chief Credit Officer actions to continue to operate within the Bank’s defined Risk Appetite.
- Attend industry events and conferences and represent the Bank within the Mortgage Broker Industry (as required).
Requirements

- As a professional, you have 5+ years of experience in a mortgage underwriting leadership role within the banking or financial industry, and a proven track record of successfully acquiring new clients (both b2b and b2c). Preference in experience with Alternative Lending.
- You have exceptional networking and relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect with key decision-makers.
- You have strong presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
- You are a results-oriented individual, with a focus on driving measurable business outcomes.
- You are proficient in using Microsoft Office, and experience with Underwriting platforms (LMS, Fundmore, etc).
