Term: May 5 to August 22, 2026 (anticipated)

Job Type: Seasonal, full time (30 hours weekly) some flexibility

Location: Art Gallery of St. Albert, St. Albert, AB

Workdays: 5 days a week, Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, includes some

evenings, weekends and holidays


The Art Gallery of St. Albert part of the Arts and Heritage Foundation of St. Albert, has an

exciting opportunity available for an enthusiastic and creative individual.

The Summer Gallery Events Assistant supports artistic achievement and visual culture in St.

Albert and surrounding area by facilitating interactions between art and people and

providing engaging educational opportunities for the community.

The Summer Gallery Events Assistant helps with research, preparation, and presentation of

art programming for visitors and events for the purpose engaging community members.

Supports the mission of the Arts and Heritage Foundation – creating inclusive and

exceptional arts and heritage experiences for our community.


Duties include:

• Assist with the delivery of community visual arts programs, school gallery tour

programs, group bookings, lectures, and AHF special events

• Organize equipment and supplies as well as ensure proper health and safety practices

and clean facilities are maintained at Gallery and offsite studio locations

• Give excellent customer service to participants and Gallery visitors by welcoming and

introducing them to the current exhibition and engaging the public with the artwork on

display

• Work with Curator to assist with artist visits, install/ strike of exhibitions and opening

receptions

• Attend regular program team meetings and gallery staff meetings.

• Assist by supervising front desk, selling goods and performing facility duties as required

• Assist Program Manager with the organization and labeling of digital photographs

• Ensure garden area plants and front potted plants are regularly watered and tended.

• Knowledge of art practices and local art and artists

• Ability to pay attention to detail

• Ability to work independently

• Flexible, positive approach to all aspects of the job

• Reliable and dependable team player

• First Aid certification


Desirable Knowledge & Skills

• ProServe Liquor Training Certificate

• Experience with exhibition preparation and installation

• Customer service or retail experience

• French, Michif or Cree language would be an asset

• Ability to handle, move, pack/unpack a variety of types of artwork and art

supplies/equipment


This is a grant-funded position, Canada Summer Jobs, anticipated to last 16 weeks (pending grant funding

approval). Candidates must meet the following criteria:
