Eligibility

  • Degree or coursework in environmental studies, natural resource management, public administration, or a related field. Relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of policy development, quality assurance, environmental and socio-economic assessment, and YESAB’s mandate and the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Act.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills; proficient in Microsoft Office and database software; strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and on complex regulatory projects.
  • Experience working for or in collaboration with a First Nation government is considered an asset

Location:

The Policy Officer works for the Head Office, located in Whitehorse, Yukon, and is expected to travel within Yukon several times per year.

Reporting to the Panel and Hearing Manager, The Policy Officer is responsible for developing policies and guidelines, for the Panel Review process, coordinate public input processes, ensuring evaluation consistency, and assist with training and corporate-wide projects.


  • Collaborate with the Board and senior management to determine policy needs and priorities, and develop panel guidelines, policies, and procedures. Manage resources and coordinate public consultations related to these policies.
  • Work with First Nations, communities, and stakeholders to explain policies, address project issues, and ensure compliance with communication protocols. Design and deliver training materials on assessment policies to ensure compliance with guidelines and standards.
  • Oversee panel related projects, represent YESAB on technical committees, and prepare materials for presentations and information sessions. Conduct research on relevant technical information and maintain up-to-date internal policies and resources.
