Role Overview: The Sales & Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the sales strategy and marketing initiatives that drive revenue, brand awareness, and client growth across Whistler Cooks Catering and its portfolio of venues. This position oversees all aspects of catering sales development, account management, and brand communication — ensuring that every event reflects the company’s reputation for exceptional food, service, and local authenticity.
The role combines hands-on sales leadership with strategic marketing oversight, guiding the Catering Coordinator and collaborating with the Events and Operations Managers to deliver seamless client experiences from first contact through event execution.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Business Development- Develop and implement annual sales strategies and targets for the catering and events division.
- Manage inbound and outbound sales initiatives, including corporate partnerships, weddings, social events, and community activations.
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities across key market segments.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a senior point of contact for high-value accounts and repeat clients.
- Oversee and support the Catering Coordinator in managing client communications, proposals, and contracts.
- Review and approve Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), ensuring accuracy and alignment with operational capabilities.
- Conduct market and competitor analysis to inform pricing strategies and promotional opportunities.
- Track and report on sales metrics, conversion rates, and revenue performance.
- Collaborate with the finance team to oversee invoicing, accounts receivable, and client billing processes.
- Lead marketing and promotional strategy for the catering and events division, in alignment with company-wide branding.
- Plan and execute digital marketing campaigns, including website, social media, and email content.
- Work with creative partners or internal teams to produce engaging visual and written materials (menus, brochures, signage, photography, etc.).
- Maintain and update website content, ensuring catering and venue information is current, compelling, and on-brand.
- Coordinate advertising placements, sponsorships, and community partnerships that enhance brand visibility.
- Manage collection and use of photography and video assets to support social media, sales presentations, and proposals.
- Analyze marketing effectiveness and adjust campaigns based on data insights and ROI.
- Provide direct supervision and mentorship to the Catering Coordinator and marketing support staff.
- Work closely with the Events Manager and Operations team to ensure client expectations align with execution capabilities.
- Participate in weekly management meetings and provide updates on sales activity, marketing performance, and event pipeline.
- Partner with culinary and operations leadership on menu development, pricing strategy, and promotional initiatives.
- Support team development through training, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Represent Whistler Cooks at local networking events, tradeshows, and tourism or hospitality industry functions.
- Build relationships with local partners, venues, and tourism organizations to strengthen brand positioning.
- Uphold company standards for professionalism and guest service in all client interactions.
Applicant Requirements
Minimum Experience & Education- Minimum 5 years of experience in hospitality sales, event management, or marketing leadership.
- Proven experience in catering or hotel/venue event sales strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or related field an asset.
- Valid Serving It Right and FoodSafe Level 1 certifications (or ability to obtain).
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel between venues and client sites.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Proven record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Deep understanding of event operations, catering logistics, and hospitality trends.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, event management software, and digital marketing platforms.
- Creative mindset with an eye for design, branding, and content creation.
- Analytical approach to sales and marketing data.
- High level of organization and time management in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and driven by results.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during events.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs regularly and transport up to 70 lbs occasionally.
