General Responsibilities
The Clinical Aide is responsible to provide logistical support to the Clinical Team in our Population Health Clinic, to ensure effective and efficient service delivery of all program components.
Specific responsibilities
- Prepare clients for their visits which may include reviewing their chart to determine screening due, reviewing past medical history, medication reconciliation, preparing laboratory requisitions, obtaining physical measurements (such as weight and blood pressure).
- Prepare clients and treatment room for procedures.
- Review and process requests for past medical records as per WellFort’s Access to Client Records policy.
- Clinical support functions including maintaining medical supply inventory, vaccine supply, and equipment maintenance and ensure exam rooms, laboratory and medical supply cupboards are kept safe, clean and stocked.
- Keep records of vaccine fridge temperature and equipment maintenance and ensure vaccines are stored according to Peel Public Health’s vaccination storage requirements.
- Clean and disinfect clinical supplies as per manufacturer’s directions. This will include autoclaving equipment designated as sterile and other infection prevention and control tasks.
- Coordinate collection, disposal and pick-up of Bio-hazardous waste.
- Support program planning, development and implementation through the development and creation of effective and efficient clinical systems.
- Perform all tasks related to panel management, tracks cycle times and TNA as well as supply and demand
- Maintain clear, accurate and timely written and electronic documentation including EMR, reports, encounters and other information as required by the health centre, MOH, CPO and other regulatory bodies.
- Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned from time to time including activities related to Professional Development, Research, Advocacy and Community Development and Contribution to team and centre activities.
Qualifications
- Relevant knowledge and experience attained through graduation from a recognized College/University in Medical Laboratory Assistant or Technician discipline or a related field.
- Autoclaving and sterilization certification.
- IPAC training an asset
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar position, preferably in the community health or social services sector.
- Maintains knowledge of current social/health issues and infection control processes.
- Proficient in the use of computers and various software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and electronic health records.
- Previous experience working with interdisciplinary teams.
- Sensitivity to and awareness of cultural, racial, economic, and socially diverse communities.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written, along with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Languages relevant to Peel Region residents are a definite asset.
- Previous experience in community health/social services and/or a value-based organization an asset.
- Provide care delivery at any of the office sites as program needs dictate.
- Consistent access to a vehicle for responsive care delivery at any care delivery location.
Requirements:
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certification
- Must present a Vulnerable Sector Check that meets the employer’s standard
- Completed 2-Step TB Test
- Must be available to work weekends and statutory holidays
