Mechatronic Systems Engineering Co-op Opportunity

CMIR, a division of Carlson Construction Group, specializes in industrial construction, maintenance, and fabrication services across Western Canada. We deliver complex projects in sectors including energy, infrastructure, and industrial operations.

We're looking for a motivated Mechatronic Systems Engineering Co-op student to join our team and gain hands-on experience in manufacturing, automation, engineering, and continuous improvement. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals while applying classroom knowledge to real-world projects.

What You'll Do

• Support engineering, drafting, and fabrication teams with project documentation and drawing updates.
• Assist with process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity.
• Collect and analyze production data to identify workflow improvements.
• Gain exposure to manufacturing systems, automation technologies, and fabrication equipment.
• Participate in quality control activities, inspections, and documentation.
• Assist with troubleshooting production challenges and implementing practical solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering, project, and operations teams to support project delivery.
• Contribute to a safe and positive work environment.

What We're Looking For

• Currently enrolled in Mechatronic Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related Co-op program.
• Completed at least two years of post-secondary studies.
• Interest in automation, manufacturing, industrial systems, and process improvement.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, PLCs, robotics, or automation systems is an asset.
• Eligible to participate in a recognized Co-op program and returning to studies after the work term.

Compensation & Term

Salary: $24-$30/hour
Term: 4-month Co-op beginning immediately (or as mutually agreed)
