Construction Project Coordinator — North Vancouver

Carlson Construction Group

Where construction meets storytelling — and your writing skills build the foundation for how we work.

Carlson Construction Group has been a name British Columbia trusts for over 50 years. Proudly family-owned and operated, we celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2021 and have grown into one of BC's largest specialty contractors (Business in Vancouver), specializing in heavy civil, industrial, marine, and deep foundation work. Our group includes Brymark Installations Group, Corwest Fabrications, Vancouver Pile Driving, and Aligned Industrial Services — a family of companies building the infrastructure BC relies on.

The Opportunity

Picture this: dozens of moving projects, hundreds of hard-won lessons learned on-site, and a wealth of operational knowledge living in people's heads instead of on paper. That's where you come in.

We're looking for a sharp, curious Construction Project Coordinator — ideally a recent Grad, EIT, or someone with hands-on construction exposure — to turn the way we work into the way we document work. You'll translate real, on-the-ground construction processes into clear, standardized operational manuals that our project teams will rely on every day.

This isn't a back-office writing role. You'll be out talking to project managers, superintendents, and field staff, learning how things actually get built — then turning that knowledge into something lasting. And if you're looking for more than a stepping-stone: this role is designed for someone who wants to grow into our Operations team for the long haul, continuing to shape and refine our manuals as the company evolves.

What You'll Be Doing

📘 Operational Manual Development

  • Develop, write, and organize detailed operational manuals for construction projects
  • Translate complex, day-to-day workflows into documentation that's actually useful
  • Standardize processes across multiple projects and teams
  • Work directly with project managers, superintendents, and field staff to get it right

🛠️ Project Coordination Support

  • Assist with project documentation, tracking, and administrative coordination
  • Maintain organized records of procedures, lessons learned, and best practices
  • Help roll out standardized processes across project teams

🔍 Process Improvement

  • Spot the gaps, inefficiencies, and inconsistencies others might miss
  • Recommend and document smarter, more reliable workflows
  • Keep manuals current as projects and the organization evolve

🤝 Communication & Collaboration

  • Partner closely with operations and project teams to keep documentation grounded in reality
  • Sit in on meetings to capture key processes firsthand
  • Support training and onboarding with documentation people actually want to read

What We're Looking For

You love turning chaos into clarity. You're the person who color-codes the group project, or the one who always volunteers to write up the meeting notes — because you're good at it.

  • A recent graduate or early-career professional with a degree/diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Construction environment experience (co-op, internship, or full-time) is a strong asset
  • Excellent writing, editing, and documentation skills
  • Experience creating procedures, manuals, or process documentation is highly valued
  • Sharp attention to detail and a genuinely organized mind
  • Comfortable communicating with both office teams and field crews
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, SharePoint); construction software experience is a bonus
  • Self-motivated, curious, and energized by fast-paced environments

What Success Looks Like — Your First 3 Months

  • Get a real handle on Carlson's operations, projects, and workflows
  • Build genuine relationships with project teams and key stakeholders
  • Start developing structured templates for operational manuals
  • Deliver your first drafts of project-specific documentation
  • Spot key opportunities for process standardization
  • Establish a clear, repeatable framework the whole organization can build on

Why This Role Is Special

This is a rare chance to shape how an entire organization documents and executes its work — not just join a process, but help build it. Every manual you write, every workflow you standardize, becomes part of how Carlson operates for years to come.

You'll get hands-on exposure to live construction projects while laying the groundwork for stronger operational excellence across the company — high impact, real visibility, and a direct line to long-term growth.

What We Offer

  • 💰 Competitive salary: $70,000 – $85,000 per annum
  • 🏥 Company benefits package
  • 📈 Career growth opportunities within a well-established construction group
  • 🧑‍🏫 Mentorship and hands-on exposure to real construction projects
  • 🎓 Training and professional development support
