We’re growing and have upcoming marine projects in Prince Rupert, and we’re looking for skilled and confident Marine Crane Operators to join our team.

  • Location: Prince Rupert, BC
  • Schedule: 2 weeks on / 1 week off
  • Duration: 12 months
  • Travel & Accommodation: Fully covered
  • Position: Marine Crane Operator (Red Seal Journeyman required)
  • Position: Welder (CWB FCAW certification required)
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
  • Certification must be valid in Canada
  • Only candidates with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in marine construction will be contacted

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be a key operator on our marine spud barge fleet, handling heavy and specialized equipment that keeps our projects moving safely and efficiently.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Operating 400‑ton cranes on marine spud barges
  • Loading, placing, and handling 200 ft pipe piles, falsework, and drilled piles
  • Reading and interpreting load charts and ensuring operations remain within capacity limits
  • Performing daily crane assembly, setup, inspections, and maintenance
  • Maintaining and repairing mechanical and hydraulic systems on deck
  • Keeping an organized catalogue of equipment in your area
  • Ensuring safe rigging, hoisting, and marine operations at all times

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • 5+ years operating friction and hydraulic cranes on marine spud barges in open water
  • Strong knowledge of civil and marine construction
  • Understanding of underground utilities, piling operations, and marine workflows

Certifications

  • Valid Crane Operator certification (Level A/B or Red Seal equivalent, minimum 5 years’ experience)
  • Marine Basic First Aid
  • Valid driver’s license and clean abstract (if operating company vehicles)

Skills

  • Confident operating cranes and marine derrick equipment
  • Strong mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to assemble cranes and calculate safe loads/capacities
  • Familiarity with local waters is an asset

Important: Marine spud barge experience is required — no exceptions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $52–$60/hour (based on union collective agreement rates)
  • $10/hour retention bonus (minimum 6‑month commitment)
