Vancouver Pile Driving Ltd. (Van Pile), a proud member of Carlson Construction Group, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Construction Safety Officer to support our Prince Rupert project site. This is a unique opportunity to elevate your safety career in an exciting field environment—while contributing to meaningful and impactful work.
This is a fly-in, fly‑out position with a two‑weeks on, one‑week off rotation, offering full accommodation and covered travel expenses for the duration of an 8-month contract.

About the Role
The Construction Safety Officer is a critical member of our on-site operations. You will be responsible for monitoring compliance, leading safety initiatives, supporting workers and subcontractors, and ensuring our projects meet the highest health and safety standards.
Your work will directly protect our people and support the successful execution of a high‑profile project.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Maintain and manage safety records, accident frequency data, and compliance tracking
- Review safety documentation for accuracy and provide coaching and feedback
- Support safety planning for new projects and conduct orientation sessions for workers
- Lead toolbox talks and safety training sessions
- Monitor safety compliance for employees and subcontractors, enforcing regulations when necessary
- Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations
- Keep management informed of issues that may impact project operations
- Promote and uphold safe working conditions across the site
- Engage proactively in hazard identification and risk‑reduction strategies
🎓 Qualifications & Requirements
We’re looking for a seasoned CSO who brings:
- Minimum 5 years of field safety experience, preferably in industrial or heavy construction
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to influence safe work practices
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Results‑driven mindset with strong organizational abilities
- Willingness to work shifts and travel outside the Lower Mainland as required
🌟 Skills, Abilities & Attributes
- A preferred safety designation such as CRSP, RCSO, CHSC, CSS, CIH, or ROH
- Occupational First Aid Level 3 certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience with BCCSA’s COR program and auditing processes
- High personal, professional, and ethical standards
- Strong initiative, analytical thinking, and sound judgment
- Relationship‑building and problem‑solving strengths
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
- Enthusiasm for learning and ongoing professional development

Salary: $55 - $70 per hour
The actual salary offered to the successful candidate will be determined based on job‑related factors, including relevant experience, years of experience, qualifications, internal equity, and Carlson Construction Group’s compensation policy.
