This exciting role offers a 14-month full-time commitment, with the potential to extend to 2 years. Position Details:
This is an anticipated 14-month full-time role in Prince Rupert with a 21/7-day rotation on a 10-hour shift. Accommodation and travel expenses will be covered.
Responsibilities:
· Maintain records, monitor accident frequencies, and oversee safety compliance
· Review documentation for accuracy and provide feedback to personnel
· Support safety planning for new projects and conduct worker orientations
· Lead safety training sessions and toolbox talks
· Monitor safety compliance of workers and subcontractors, enforce regulations
· Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and investigate incidents
· Keep management informed on issues affecting project work
· Promote and uphold safe working conditions
Qualifications / Requirements:
· Minimum 5 years of field safety experience, preferably in industrial construction
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Marine and Crane safety experience is an asset
· Post-secondary education in a related field
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Results-driven with good organizational abilities
· Willingness to work shifts and outside the Lower Mainland if needed
Skills/Abilities/Attributes:
· Preferred professional safety designation CSO, NCSO or RCSO– These requirements should be limited to postings for management level applications (e.g., CRSP, CHSC, CSS, CIH, or ROH)
· Occupational First Aid Level 3 certification or willingness to obtain
· Experience with BCCSA’s C.O.R. program and auditing processes
· High personal, professional, and ethical standards
· Initiative, sound judgment, and a proactive approach
· Excellent relationship-building, analytical, and problem-solving skills
· Strong prioritization and time-management skills
· Eager to learn and develop in the safety field
Salary Range; $50-$65/hr.
