Van Pile is on the lookout for a seasoned Health, Safety, and Environmental professional eager for a dynamic role in a leading company in the heavy civil/marine construction industry. We are recruiting a committed Junior HSE Coordinator to enhance our Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives. The selected individual will be instrumental in fostering a positive and secure work setting as we undertake new and thrilling projects.


Job Title: Junior HSE Coordinator

Location: North Vancouver Office with possible assignment to the project site on scheduled rotations.

Start Date: Immediately start at the North Vancouver Office.

Job Responsibilities

- Maintain statistics and records and monitor accident/incident frequencies and safety violations

- Review documentation for accuracy and provide feedback to personnel

- Assist in the planning and start-up of new work tasks with respect to safety issues

- Inventory safety-related training of workers; conduct new worker safety orientations

- Conduct safety training and toolbox talks

- Regularly monitor safety compliance of workers and subcontractors; conduct site

inspections and institute remedial action if required

- Keep management current on the status of any issue(s) that may impact on the work being performed

- Promote safe working conditions

- Enforce safety regulations and safe work practices

- Conduct hazard assessments

- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses as required

- Maintain and prepare thorough documentation and reports


Qualifications / Requirements

- Post-secondary education in a related field

- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to influence others

- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Results driven who ensures the right course of action is taken

- Good organizational skills with attention to detail


Skills/Abilities/Attributes

The ideal candidate will have:

- CSO Certification

- Experience with the BCCSA’s C.O.R. program and auditing processes

- Proficiency in Microsoft word and excel

- High personal, professional and ethical standards

- Initiative and sound judgment

- A collaborative, proactive, and results oriented approach

- Excellent relationship building skills

- Excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills

- Sound prioritization/time-management skills

- Willingness to learn

Salary: $70 - $85k per annum
