Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Operations, the General Accountant is responsible for billing and accounts payable functions as well as providing support to the Director of Finance and Operations.


Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:


Accounts Payable

  • Coding
    • Entry
    • Maintenance of vendor files
    • Preparation of files for payment
    • Credit card reconciliations

Employee Expenses

    • Entry and reconciliation
    • Preparation for payment

Invoicing

    • Monthly client draft invoicing
    • Liaising with project teams on invoice revisions
    • Preparing final invoices for clients
    • Working with teams to finalize and distribute invoices
    • Report preparation and distribution to clients and project teams

General Accounting

  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Amortization schedule maintenance
  • Monthly Sales tax reconciliation
  • Ad hoc reporting as required

Other responsibilities include

    • Work independently and exercise judgement on specific tasks
    • Manage their time to meet deadlines and produce high-quality deliverables.
    • Communicate clearly, professionally, and persuasively, both orally and in writing
    • Adapt and respond to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment

Skills/ Qualifications/ Experience

Essential:

  • 2-5 years' experience in an accounting role
  • Diploma or degree in finance, commerce, accounting or a related field
  • Progressive experience in accounts payable and client invoicing in a project accounting environment
  • Organized and detail orientated
  • Proficient in MS office, especially Excel
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of provincial federal legislation
  • Able to connect, engage and influence
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Discretionary and confidential

Desirable:

  • Experience with Deltek Ajera software a strong asset
