 About this role

The Growth Associate’s primary purpose is to drive Tapestry's business growth by engaging with prospective clients and securing philanthropic funding opportunities to expand our reach and impact. This role will focus on outreach to non-profit, charitable, and co-operative organizations in Canada, managing inbound leads, and nurturing long-term relationships with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development (100%)

● Conduct outreach to prospective clients, cultivating relationships, and providing guidance on community finance options for capital projects.

● Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, ensuring a relationship-focused approach to business development.

● Manage and organize leads using our CRM system, ensuring all interactions and communications are documented and tracked efficiently.

● Utilize a variety of lead generation strategies, such as client referrals, research & outreach, and targeted events to attract new clients.

● Lead consultation calls with potential clients to understand their needs and tailor proposals that align with their organizational goals and project objectives.

● Develop client agreements, incorporate feedback from the Campaigns Team, to ensure clarity and attention to detail.

● Deliver impactful presentations to clients and at public events, showcasing the benefits and potential impact of community finance solutions.

Education & Experience

● Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, public policy, social sciences, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

● 1–3 years of experience in business development, partnerships, fundraising, client relations, consulting, or sales.

● Demonstrated interest in impact investing, community finance, social innovation, or the non-profit sector.

● Experience engaging with non-profit organizations, charities, co-operatives, or mission-driven enterprises is considered an asset.

● Experience conducting client outreach, managing a sales or partnership pipeline, and supporting proposal development.

● Familiarity with CRM systems (such as Pipedrive, Salesforce, or HubSpot) for managing leads and client relationships is an asset.

● Experience delivering presentations, facilitating consultations, or representing an organization at events is an asset.

Skills & Knowledge

● Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with leaders of non-profit organizations, co-operatives, and community groups.

Business Development: Ability to identify opportunities, generate leads, and nurture relationships that convert into long-term partnerships.

● Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts in accessible language.

● Presentation Skills: Comfort presenting to diverse audiences, including nonprofit leadership, community stakeholders, and public events.

Organization & Pipeline Management: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing multiple prospective clients and opportunities simultaneously.

● Research & Strategic Thinking: Ability to research potential clients, understand their capital needs, and identify how community finance solutions can support their goals.

● Collaboration: Ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams to develop proposals, agreements, and project plans.

● Mission Alignment: A strong commitment to social impact, community investment, and expanding access to innovative financing solutions for mission-driven organizations.

Collaboration:

The Growth Associate will collaborate closely with the Growth and Impact Lead and the Director of Growth and Development on new client opportunities. Additionally, they will work with the Campaigns Team to finalize proposals, agreements, and project plans.

 Travel Requirements:

The role will be based in Toronto, with occasional travel across Canada to meet with new clients and attend events, as building in-person relationships is crucial for success in this position.

 Work Environment:

The position will have a remote-first work environment, with the flexibility to work from home. However, in-person meetings and travel will be important to foster strong and lasting relationships with clients.
