THORASYS Thoracic Medical Systems Inc. is a young medical device company based in Montreal’s MileEx neighbourhood. We develop, manufacture and market advanced diagnostic medical devices incorporating novel approaches to pulmonary function testing that aid the diagnosis and monitoring of lung diseases such as Asthma and COPD.

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for defining, planning, and monitoring projects. These are not limited to product development and may include improvements to the company’s infrastructure or other areas.

 

Specific tasks include:

  • Defining project scope in collaboration with stakeholders to identify all deliverables.
  • For each project, developing plans including a Gantt chart, budget, and risk management matrix.
  • Once the scope and development plan are approved by the VP of R&D, organizing kickoff meetings to mobilize the project team and launch development.
  • Monitoring project progress and ensuring adherence to development timelines and client expectations.
  • Reporting any deviations from the timeline and budget to the VP of R&D (and the client if necessary).
  • Assist the VP of R&D in maintaining the development pipeline/schedule.
  • Manage functional group priorities, coordinate R&D team sprints and technical change order progress pipeline
  • Continuously improve the implementation of agile development for better strategic alignment with the rest of the team.

Competencies and Qualifications

  • Planning and Organization: Ability to effectively structure and organize tasks and resources.
  • Communication: Ability to convey information clearly and motivate teams.
  • Leadership: Ability to guide and inspire teams while maintaining cohesion.
  • Risk Analysis: Ability to anticipate and manage potential risks.
  • Use of digital tools: Familiarity with project management software such as Jira or MS-Project
  • A good understanding of regulatory environments such as ISO 13485, IEC 62304, IEC60601, FCC, and UL (or equivalent) standards is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English and French, both spoken and written.


Education and experience

  • University degree in management or a technical field such as engineering
  • Project management training (PMI certification is an asset)
  • 5-7 years in a project management (electromechanical design projects in particular are an asset)
  • Experience in a regulated sector such as medical devices or aerospace is an asset.

 

Report

Unless designated otherwise by the CEO you will report to the VP R&D.
