Back End Developer

Seeking a Back End Developer eager to join our growing team. You will help build new features and improve existing functionality for our industry-leading analytics platform. As a member of the development team, you will help design, create and test beautiful software that has a meaningful and immediate impact on our growing customer base. • Gain an understanding of the real-world problems of our users to help us build a great product that exceeds the expectations of our customers
• Collaborate with product management to understand, design, and implement new product features that help our customers make better sense of their retail data
• Write well-tested and maintainable code for internal services and our customer-facing web application
• Define best practices and patterns to help us scale our platform
• Deploy and run software in Amazon Web Services

• A solid understanding of functional programming – we use Scala, Elixir and Erlang extensively but aren’t picky about where you’re coming from
• Experience building service-oriented architectures and web applications – we have a lot of things that are HTTP and REST-based at the moment
• Great communication skills – you’ll be expected to collaborate with our Front End and Product teams to help define requirements and build out the right solution
• A self-starter attitude – drive to do better and be better is baked into our culture

• Have experience building and operating software in Amazon Web Services
• Know your way around PostgreSQL
• Have an understanding of configuration management and/or orchestration software like Ansible, Chef, and Puppet (we’ve used a lot of Ansible)
