ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Staffing Manager, Human Resources, the Recruiter supports the full summer staffing recruitment and onboarding process from start to finish. The Recruiter manages the full recruitment lifecycle to meet organizational staffing needs, including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, hiring, contract issuance, and onboarding. The role partners closely with hiring managers to develop effective recruitment strategies, ensure a positive candidate experience, and support equitable, timely, and compliant hiring practices.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage the recruitment process, including sorting, pre-screening, and shortlisting candidates
- Conduct phone screenings to assess qualifications, experience, and fit
- Coordinate and schedule interviews, including individual and group sessions
- Participate in group interviews, providing input and supporting hiring managers in evaluations
- Coordinate and schedule interviews by booking hiring managers’ calendars and managing interview logistics
- Communicate with candidates regarding application status, documentation, and next steps
- Respond to candidate inquiries about job postings and the hiring process
- Prepare, update, and issue employment contracts
- Ensure contracts are accurate, compliant, and complete
- Collect and review required documentation to prepare new hire and rehire packages, and submit complete onboarding information to Payroll
- Process new hire and rehire documentation
- Conduct pre-employment screenings, such as driver’s abstracts, vulnerable sector checks, and criminal background checks
- Support employee onboarding and orientation sessions
- Maintain organized personnel files in compliance with privacy legislation
- Provide administrative support for employee terminations, including documentation, recordkeeping, and weekly submission of termination details to Payroll
- Assist with HR data entry, metrics, and recruitment reporting
- Support the employee evaluation process as needed
- Provide general administrative support to the HR team
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- Post-secondary education and/or experience in Human Resources, Recruitment, or a related field considered an asset
- Valid G2 or G driver's license considered an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A positive attitude, strong teamwork capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy under pressure
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
- Capable of providing guidance to department managers on recruitment and selection processes
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
