Position Description

Currently, Tetranex is seeking a full-time Senior Electrical Drawing Checker.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive technical checking and quality assurance for electrical engineering deliverables and design work packages.
  • Review and validate electrical design calculations, including Electric Heat Tracing (EHT), lighting, voltage drop, conductor ampacity derating, and cable tray fill.
  • Validate electrical equipment, system materials, and vendor documentation for technical compliance and project suitability.
  • Ensure all engineering deliverables conform strictly to the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), local regulatory requirements, and client design standards.
  • Audit equipment and component specifications for hazardous area classification, NEMA/IP ratings, temperature codes, and industry certifications (e.g., CSA, UL).
  • Validate complex Electric Heat Trace (EHT) design packages and control panel schematics.
  • Ensure engineering drafting standards, CAD/3D modeling conventions, and overall design package consistency.
  • Communicate and coordinate technical redlines effectively with project managers, lead engineers, and drafting teams.
  • Mentor and guide junior design staff to build core discipline competency and industry design knowledge.


Requirements:

  • Senior-level engineering experience.
  • Extensive experience in office-based electrical, controls, and instrumentation design execution for energy sector projects (EPC/consulting environment).
  • Proven track record in detailed design package generation, review, and quality control.
  • Deep knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and standard industrial design practices.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for digital redlines and design package markups.
  • Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD, NavisWorks, and industrial EHT calculation software.
  • Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to articulate clear, constructive technical markups.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across project teams and mentor developing designers.
