Position Description

Currently, Tetranex is seeking a full-time Junior Project Controls Specialist.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform general project controls and scheduling functions under the guidance of a supervisor to support Project Managers and Project Engineers.
  • Learn and actively utilize timesheet software to validate weekly hours, ensure accurate charge code utilization, and work with inhouse resource platforms.
  • Attest procurement invoices, update master invoice log, and coordinate approvals.
  • Track and compile reports on Engineering and Procurement (EP) spend profiles, accruals, and incurred to date (ITD) reports for assigned pre-FEED (Front-End Engineering Design), FEED, and Detailed Engineering phases.
  • Maintain project cost and schedule data, which includes tracking key milestones, equipment deliveries, and Required At Site (RAS) dates.
  • Maintain Master Engineering Work Package (EWP) Schedule.
  • Prepare and generate reports using the defined Earned Value Reporting System (EVR) to accurately track project performance.
  • Update manpower forecasts alongside engineering disciplines and report on overall manpower loading.
  • Assist in maintaining the project change log and tracking approved trends or scope deviations.
  • Support the creation of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) during project setup and assist with administrative project closeout activities.
  • Attend routine project review meetings to update action item registers and track outstanding team deliverables.


Requirements:

  • Minimal Engineering & Procurement (EP) experience is required; entry-level candidates and recent graduates with a strong willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Diploma in Engineering, Business, Commerce, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the aptitude to assist in tracking manpower loading, data modeling, and spend profiling.
  • Demonstrated willingness and technical aptitude to learn new timesheet software, resource management platforms, and associated proprietary tools.
  • Familiarity with basic project controls principles, including scheduling, cost tracking, and progress metrics.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of interest to support data automation and routine reporting.
  • Self-motivated team player who takes direction well, effectively executes assigned tasks, and thrives in a mentored environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills tailored for internal team collaboration and supervisor support.
