Position Description

Currently, Tetranex is seeking a full-time Intermediate Electrical Engineer.


Responsibilities:

  • Specify and procure electrical equipment such as Switchgear, MCC’s, VFD’s, UPS Systems, Generators, Heat Trace Controllers, Harmonic Filters, Electrical Buildings and induction motors.
  • Support mechanical engineers in the specification of equipment such as pumps, compressors, process equipment packages.
  • Review and mark-up vendor drawings with the full understanding of how they integrate with the project.
  • Develop load lists, electrical equipment lists and other calculations to support the sizing and specification of equipment.
  • Perform power system studies such as short circuit, coordination, arc flash, harmonic mitigation and transient motor starting using applicable software such as ETAP and SKM power tools.
  • Develop VFD, relay and other protection settings as required for a project start-up.
  • Develop single line diagrams for medium and low voltage industrial power systems.
  • Create area classification drawings and details, and conduct fugitive emissions studies.
  • Oversee and support the electrical designers in developing full electrical drawing packages.
  • Write scope of work documents and create construction work packages.
  • Facilitate field construction and fabrication tasks.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to other team members.
  • Lead the electrical portion of small and medium sized projects with support as required.


Requirements:

  • An Electrical Engineering Degree with a minimum of 5-10 years experience working in an EPC environment.
  • Registered professional engineer with APEGA (Alberta). Registration in other provinces such as British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba would be an asset but not a requirement.
  • Strong capabilities using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to use ETAP and SKM Power Tools.
  • Skilled in prioritizing workloads and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites to scope out projects, meet with clients and construction personnel.
