Job Description


The Journeyman Electrician with fire alarm experience plays a critical role in ensuring the operational integrity and compliance of fire alarm systems. This position involves inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining various fire alarm components to safeguard lives and property. The technician collaborates with clients, communicates findings, and ensures that fire alarm systems are functioning optimally.

What You’ll Do


  • Conduct and document inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance for fire alarm and related electrical systems.
  • Evaluate electrical systems and components, providing detailed reports and recommendations to ensure optimal performance and compliance with client requirements.
  • Perform electrical work necessary for the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment, systems, and facilities according to diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Ensure all installations comply with safety codes, have the necessary permits, and pass inspections and tests.
  • Prepare detailed reports following inspections, repairs, and maintenance, and include comments on scheduled appointments in our job management system.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, dispatch, and management, representing Sterling Fire Protection in a professional manner.
  • Attend service calls and participate in an on-call rotation to provide timely support.
  • Adhere to company standards, client site protocols, and design specifications in all tasks.


What You Need


  • Journeyman Electrician with “P” – ticket
  • CFAA certification is an asset
  • In the process of pursuing your CFAA certification, or open to obtaining it
  • Valid Alberta Driver’s License and ability to operate a company vehicle - Clean driver’s abstract is required
  • Available to work in Edmonton, surrounding areas, and out of town overnight on occasion
