Fire Suppression Technician Assistant

Job Description

Our fire protection company is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Fire Suppression Technician Assistant (Panel Helper) to join our team. If you're someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves getting your hands dirty (safely, of course), then this is the job for you!

As a Technician Assistant, you'll assist other technicians in their work to ensure that fire protection systems are installed, maintained, inspected, and serviced with precision and efficiency.

Who You Are

Positive Attitude: The single most important trait of any person is their attitude. A positive attitude with an ability to stay positive and productive through dynamic (and sometimes frustrating) situations is absolutely necessary and required of all service Technician Assistants.

Communication: This is key and an important requirement for a successful Technician Assistant. While interacting with office personnel, clients, and other technicians, the ability to communicate effectively is among one of the most basic and important skills a Technician Assistant can have.

Physical Strength and Stamina: You possess the physical strength and endurance necessary to lift, move, carry, and transport tools and other items to and from the job site.

Attention to detail: Technician Assistants must have a clear focus on their jobs. Nearly all of the work completed at Sterling is directly related to people’s safety and as such, the details matter. Ensuring the details are looked after will help to ensure the larger picture is as well.

Analytical mindset: This is a technical job and requires a technical mind. Technician Assistants should be well-versed and comfortable while working on systems.

Team Collaboration: You excel in teamwork, motivating and supporting colleagues to overcome challenges and achieve collective goals.

Punctuality and Dependability: This is a must for Technician Assistants. Being prepared and on time is a requirement for all service technician assistants. Whether preparing for a job or meeting a client, being punctual is a must. Of course, as a Technician Assistant, many scenarios beyond your control will occur. Communicating changes in schedule or tardiness in lieu of arriving on time is occasionally necessary.

Commitment to Safety: You are vigilant about safety, proactively identifying and addressing potential hazards to maintain a secure work environment.

Ability to operate a vehicle: A valid driver’s license and own vehicle is necessary as driving around to various locations will be required.

Drive and Ambition: You want to grow in your career in one of the following areas: Journeyman Electrician, CFAA Certified Alarm Technician, Journeyman Sprinkler Service Technician, Journeyman Sprinkler Systems Installer.

What You’ll Do

Safety: Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure personal safety and the safety of others during service activities. Dispose of hazardous materials in compliance with environmental regulations.

Logistics Support: Facilitate the transportation of tools, equipment, and fuel to maintain our clients' fire and life protection gear in optimal condition.

Installation Assistance: Assist in the installation of fire alarms and sprinkler systems by transporting equipment, tools, and materials to work sites and supporting the assembly and installation of various system components.

Teamwork: Collaborate with Fire Alarm and Sprinkler Technicians and other team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively. Communicate any challenges or issues encountered during work.

Maintenance and Repairs: Support technicians in inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire alarm and sprinkler systems, helping to identify and address issues such as faulty wiring, leaks, clogs, or damaged components.

Training: Participate in on-the-job training and educational programs to enhance your knowledge and skills in fire alarm and sprinkler system installation and maintenance.

Compliance: Assist in ensuring that all fire alarm and sprinkler systems meet local, provincial, and federal safety regulations and codes. Follow safety protocols and guidelines at all times.

Customer Interaction: Interact with clients and building owners in a professional and courteous manner. Answer questions and provide information regarding the fire alarms and sprinkler systems.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspection reports, service logs, and equipment inventory. Ensure that all documentation is complete and up-to-date.
