Summary of Role

We’re looking for a skilled and experienced QA Engineer who wants to participate in the design and development process from beginning to end. The scope of the role will include manual testing, design validation, automated testing, building an automated testing platform, and performance testing.

We are building our next generation dynamic, web and mobile-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy platform and we need strong talent to get there. As a key part of the software development team, you will work closely and collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to create and innovate with our industry leading technology.

You are a multi-talented, ambitious QA engineer with a wide range of expertise in all aspects of testing from both a technical and a user experience point of view. You also have experience in interacting with customers and investigating bug reports from non-technical users. Core Responsibilities

  • Reviewing quality specifications, in discussions and in technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team - product management, therapy designers, UX designers, frontend and backend developers
  • Investigate bugs and incidents reported by external customers. Work from a one-line description to a full bug report with clear description and steps to reproduce. (some customer-facing interactions required)
  • Creating and/or following detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • Estimating, prioritizing, planning and coordinating quality testing activities
  • Perform manual testing activities, both for backend, and frontend (web and mobile platforms)
  • Use web-based test automation tools (TestProject, BrowserStack)
  • Write test scripts using Selenium
  • Contribute to an automated testing platform to ensure full coverage of dynamically generated content tree structures
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs
  • Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
  • Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs
  • Monitor debugging process results
  • Investigate the causes of non-conforming software and train users to implement solutions
  • Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts
  • Plan evolution of testing strategies based on new testing tools and capabilities
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience with responsibility for quality assurance
  • 3 years experience testing Progressive Web Applications
  • 3 years experience testing responsive web applications for both web and mobile
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a customer-facing role
  • Strong experience in end-to-end and integration testing with Selenium or equivalent
  • Ability to build an automated testing platform
  • Experience working within a CI/CD pipeline
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds with different skillsets and communication styles including product managers, UX designers, therapy designers, and developers
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Experience using Jira
  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
  • Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing
  • Ability to help troubleshoot and debug client-raised issues
  • A keen eye for detail and design
  • Post-secondary education in computer science or engineering (or equivalent experience)

Nice to haves

  • Knowledge writing tests for single page/component-based applications
  • Experience testing applications written with Java and Vue.js
  • Experience with performance and/or security testing
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL)
  • Knowledge of and experience with accessibility testing for people with disabilities
  • Experience with rules engines or expert systems
  • Experience testing applications based on microservices architecture
  • Hands-on devops experience with AWS tools and services such as EC2, Lambda, RDS etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS capabilities and security features
  • Familiarity with Linux command line and shell or bash scripting
  • Experience testing applications written with Ember.js

Job Details

  • Full time permanent position (40 hours/week)
  • Reports to: VP Engineering
  • Salary $80k+, dependant on experience
