Job Summary
The Sr Project Engineer provides leadership and oversight to the Local Engineering project discipline teams. The Project Engineer provides the team with clear definition of the project goals and objectives, supports the team in removing roadblocks and barriers, and is ultimately responsible for individual project delivery within defined budgets and timelines.
The Project Engineer is a key project team member, and the key communicator between the Local Engineering and Design team, the client stakeholders, and other 3rd parties such as vendors, sub contractors, etc.
Responsibilities
- Represent Local Engineering as the key interface between the client and the Local project team.
- Develop and execute project plans that maintain technical excellence, budget, schedule, and contractual requirements.
- Actively engage directly with clients to understand their requirements and expectations and deliver top quality solutions.
- Actively communicate with project team members to ensure the project scope is clear, and changes are well documented and communicated to all appropriate team members.
- Prepare and maintain project management documents including Proposals, Schedules, Estimates, Project Execution Plans, and resource plans.
- Coordination of vendors and sub-contractors where applicable.
- Presentation development as required.
- Independently manage and oversee projects from small maintenance jobs through large and complex projects and/or portfolio management.
- Specify procurement requirements for equipment and assist with procurement as needed.
- Manage project budgets ensuring work is completed according to the defined contractual scope and execution strategy.
- Support clients at various project phases including start up, commissioning and close out.
- Schedule project meetings including preparing meeting agendas and sending out meeting minutes/notes/actions.
- Maintain Project Logs, documenting risks, decisions, actions, assumptions, etc.
- Initiate conversations with team to understand scope changes/creep, and manage via preparation and obtaining client approval of Trends/PCNs.
- Provide additional support as needed including collaborating with other project stake holders to deliver well-rounded solutions to clients.
- Communicate project resource needs the Local Discipline Leads to ensure staffing is in place to successfully execute project work.
- Approve project deliverables.
- Support business development activities such as liaising with clients as a representative of Local and identifying, developing, and maintaining professional connections to enhance and maintain business for the company.
- Identify potential project opportunities and work with the Local team to grow the business.
- Demonstrate commitment to safety, leading by example.
- Travel to the field for project scoping, verification, construction support and meeting with clients as needed.

Education & Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering discipline
- 15+ years of progressive engineering/design experience including min. 8 years Project Management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs used to create reports and documents including MS Project
- Prior EPCM work experience
Position Conditions
- Hours of work per week may vary depending on available work and skillset of individual, but the intention is that this is a full-time position.
- Salary is commensurate with APEGA salary scale based on relevant experience.
- Job is typically performed in an office environment.
- Site travel may be required depending on the project.
