Position: Part-time Family Support Worker

Location: Prince George BC

Hours: 18 hours weekly

Salary: $29.87

Start Date: ASAP

 

We are seeking a part-time Family Support Worker to join our Family Preservation and Reunification team. The ideal candidate is well-organized, compassionate, and has a strong understanding of the challenges faced by at risk families, generational trauma impact and harm reduction service models.  This individual will be professional, able to work independently and possess a team player attitude!  Must have a Class 5 driver’s license.

Description of Position:

General Responsibilities:

  • Effective and collaborative communication with MCFD staff is essential
  • Creating a strong team environment
  • Some administration duties are required


Program-specific Responsibilities:

  • Meet and work directly with family members to teach life and parenting skills
  • Maintain a caseload and provide direct services to families referred to the program
  • Assessment and effective intervention with families, including outreach services in the families’ homes
  • Supervise visitation with caregivers and their children


Physical Demands of Job:

  • Lifting/Pulling/Pushing - 25%, Walking/Moving Around - 25%, Sitting - 50%

Cognitive Demands of Job:

  • Independent Work - 25%, Changing Priorities/Deadlines - 25%, Writing/Reading - 50%


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or another related field mandatory
  • Must be willing to travel to remote Indigenous communities, such as Tsay Keh Dene and Kwadacha mandatory
  • Minimum 1 year experience providing therapeutic intervention to families, or other related experience.
  • Able to provide intake and assessment
  • Knowledge of MCFD protocol regarding Child Protection and Risk Assessment is an asset.
  • Familiar and comfortable working with Microsoft Office products.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
