Position: Sexual Misconduct Support Worker
Location: Oceanside/Nanaimo
Hours: 24 hours per week
Salary: $29.17 (Grid Level 12, Step 1)
Start Date: As soon as possible
End Date: September, 2028
We are looking for a Sexual Misconduct Support Worker to join our Oceanside Mental Health and Social Services team! Ideally, this individual will have strong interpersonal skills, be experienced providing victim services support using trauma and culturally responsive practices and work well with people in crisis.

Description of Position:
Reporting to: Mental Health and Social Services Team Leader
General Responsibilities:
- Support victims of Sexual Misconduct over the age of 16 in Nanaimo and Oceanside.
- Work directly with victims of sexual misconduct providing emotional and practical support.
- Provide information and connection to resources for victims of sexual misconduct.
- Facilitate sexual misconduct prevention and education sessions/workshops in Nanaimo and Oceanside.
Program-specific Responsibilities:
- Provide both in-office and outreach services to victims.
- Accompany victims to RCMP, hospital/medical and court.
- Provide education in the about the awareness and prevention of sexual misconduct.
Physical Demands of Job:
- Lifting/Pushing/Pulling - 25%, Walking/Moving Around - 50%, Sitting - 50%, Time Spent Outdoors - 50%
Cognitive Demands of Job:
- Independent Work - 75%, Task Memorization - 50%, Changing Priorities/Deadlines - 50%, Reading/Writing - 75%
Qualifications:
- Mandatory: Diploma in Social Services related field. Preferred: Bachelors’ Degree (e.g. Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Criminal Justice).
- Preferred: two (2) years of victim services related experience.
- Mandatory: Ability to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check
- Mandatory: Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
