Position: Behaviour Interventionist (Casual)

Location: Prince George, BC

Hours: Up to 20 hours per week, hours will vary

Salary: $25.75 per hour

Start Date: ASAP


We are looking for a Behaviour Interventionist to join our Behaviour Support Service team! Behaviour Interventionists provide direct one-to-one teaching to young children diagnosed with autism and other developmental disorders. They work as a part of an interdisciplinary team, under the direct mentorship and supervision of a Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst. The successful candidate will be supported in attaining certification as a Registered Behaviour Technician or one of the other levels of certification awarded through the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board.

Description of Position:

Reporting to: Manager of Behaviour Intervention Services

General Responsibilities:

  • Case management and report writing.
  • Contribute to a strong team environment.
  • Attending and participating in regularly scheduled team meetings.
  • Some administration duties are required.

Program-specific Responsibilities:

  • Use teaching methods to target specific program goals directed by a Behaviour Consultant and implement teaching programs and other interventions as outlined on the student’s behaviour plan of intervention.
  • Collecting data, monitoring, recording and reviewing client progress with consultants and other team members.
  • Develop, teach, and demonstrate the strategies of positive behaviour support.
  • Writing accurate session notes and maintaining files.

Cognitive Demands of Job:

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, two years post-secondary education in a related field preferred (psychology, education, social work, etc.).
  • Experience working with children with autism and experience/ability managing and responding to aggressive behaviour is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Available for work at least 12 hours a week.
  • Clear criminal record check required.
