Solvest – Who We Are

Solvest was founded in the Yukon in 2015 and has become a leader in delivering renewable energy solutions across northern and remote regions. We specialize in designing and executing large-scale solar, and  energy storage projects built for challenging and complex environments. Our work is grounded in strong, long-term partnerships with communities, municipalities, and commercial clients, where we prioritize collaboration, trust, and shared outcomes. By accelerating the shift away from fossil-fuel reliance, we strive to support energy sovereignty, environmental stewardship, and a more resilient future. Our core values are Innovation, Trust, Empowerment, and Tenacity.

We are now bringing that same expertise and commitment to the Ontario commercial and industrial market.

What We Offer

  • A people-focused workplace; our employees are the centre of our culture.
  • A chance to contribute to a greener and more inclusive future.
  • Working with a great team with a focus on employee growth and development.
  • Work life balance – we are currently trialing a 4-day work week.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Employer-paid health benefits.
  • Open book financials across the company.

The Opportunity

This is a hunter role. We are not looking for a “sales rep,” we are looking for a market builder. You will be the face of Solvest in Ontario, focused on originating and closing commercial-scale solar and BESS opportunities with commercial, industrial, and municipal clients.

This is not about moving product off a shelf; it is about complex project origination. You will navigate project development cycles, build genuine trust with multiple stakeholders, and serve as the foundational piece of Solvest's Ontario Commercial expansion. Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, you will manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through to contract signing and handoff to the operations team, supported by Solvest's internal design and technical teams.

This is a remote position, Ontario-based, with access to our Cobourg office for those in proximity.

Note: This role is focused on consultative, complex project sales in the commercial and industrial energy market. Candidates with experience limited to software, SaaS, short-cycle product sales, or residential solar are unlikely to be a strong fit.

Employment Status: Permanent Full Time, trialing a 4-day work week (36 hours)

Wage Range: $ 55,000 – $ 75,000 base salary + competitive uncapped accelerator based commission structure

Benefits: Employer-paid comprehensive health benefits package after 3 months (including unlimited access to virtual health care, mental health care, and virtual pharmacy via Dialogue); paid vacation; paid sick days; and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hunt & Originate: Identify and qualify high-value opportunities for commercial and industrial scale projects.
  • Market Expansion: Use your existing Ontario network to open doors with commercial clients and municipal partners.
  • Strategic Velocity: Move leads through the pipeline with speed and precision, collaborating with our internal technical teams to deliver "wow" proposals.
  • Stakeholder Mastery: Navigate the boardroom and  talk shop with equal ease, managing everything from initial contact to operational handoff.
  • CRM Discipline: Maintain a gold-standard pipeline in our CRM to drive forecasting and strategy.
  • Customer Journey Management: Comprehensive support for our clients from initial meeting through hand over to the operations team.

Success Measures (KPIs)

We measure what matters. Your success is defined by:

  1. Pipeline Velocity: How fast can you move a lead from "Hello" to "Handoff"?
  2. Conversion Rate: Turning qualified leads into active project developments.
  3. Proposal Turnaround: Delivering comprehensive, winning bids with urgency.
  4. Operational Excellence: Ensuring a seamless transition from "Closed-Won" to our operations team.

Who You Are

You are a commercially sharp, relationship-driven sales professional with a deep understanding of the Ontario energy market, including interconnection processes and the local regulatory environment. You know that selling commercial solar and BESS projects requires patience, credibility, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments. You are comfortable operating independently across a large territory and you take full ownership of your results.

You are a proven closer. You have built your career generating new business in complex, multi-stakeholder project sales, and you don't just manage accounts; you grow them. You understand PPA structures and the economics of renewable energy, whether it is reducing energy costs for a commercial operator, supporting a municipality's sustainability goals, or helping a business take control of its energy future. You can talk shop with engineers and talk ROI with CFOs.

You are tenacious and self-motivated. You don't wait for leads to land in your inbox. You build your own momentum.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of B2B sales experience in solar, energy storage, energy infrastructure, construction, or a closely related field; a demonstrated track record of closing multi-stakeholder, complex deals is required.
  • A deep understanding of the Ontario energy market, including interconnection processes, PPA structures, and the local regulatory environment.
  • Existing network of contacts within the Ontario commercial, or  industrial energy sector is considered a significant advantage.
  • Technically literate with the ability to understand and communicate solar and BESS concepts, including the ability to discuss ROI and project economics without requiring engineering support in client conversations.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and data-driven sales reporting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and accountable to results.
  • Willingness to travel across Ontario as required.

Additional Requirements

  • Background check
  • Driver's license with a clean abstract and minimum 3 years claims experience history
