The Opportunity:

Solvest is seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Manager to join our growing team! 

Since Solvest began operations in 2015, we have taken on and completed larger and more complex and exciting projects as we push renewable energy in northern and remote regions. Solvest’s goal is to be the leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company for microgrids in northern Canada and Alaska, a company based in the North, for the North. 

As a Senior Project Manager at Solvest, you will play a pivotal role in managing a complex large renewable energy project in Northern Canada and ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, and within budget. You will work closely with our dedicated team to uphold company standards and drive excellence in renewable energy project management.

Bringing years of experience into the team, you bring clarity to ambiguity, make sound decisions under pressure, and understand how early project choices impact construction, commissioning, and long-term operations.

You build trust quickly with executives, engineers, contractors, clients and Indigenous partners through clear communication, practical judgment, and follow-through. You’re disciplined with reporting and documentation, schedules, budgets, safety, and quality, while remaining adaptable when conditions change.

You lead with confidence and humility, empower teams, and are motivated by delivering renewable energy infrastructure that creates lasting value for communities and the future energy system.

This position is preferred to be based in Whitehorse, YT, but may be performed remotely for candidates with proven high-quality leadership and tactical capabilities as a remote team member.

Employment Status: Permanent Full Time – 40 hours per week

Wage Range: $50.00 - $65.00 / hour  (based on experience) + annual profit-sharing bonus based on company performance.

Leave Entitlement: Four weeks of paid vacation to start (20 days) + 5 paid sick days per year.

Job Description (high level summary - not inclusive of all duties): 


  • Lead the development and delivery of one to two large renewable energy projects, including integrated project plans, schedules, and objectives aligned with executive direction, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder priorities.
  • Ensure assigned project(s) are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to required quality standards, proactively managing construction risks, and interdependencies
  • Own stakeholder engagement across utilities, regulators, Indigenous partners, landowners, executives, and internal teams to maintain alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Direct cross-functional teams spanning engineering, procurement, construction, and subcontracts to coordinate resources, milestones, and deliverables in support of project and business goals.
  • Contribute to renewable energy business cases and lessons learned, identifying opportunities for efficiency, innovation, and continuous improvement in project delivery.
  • Establish and maintain project governance, tracking, and reporting frameworks to provide leadership and clients with clear visibility into progress, risks, and performance metrics.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies related to construction, environmental compliance, safety, grid interconnection, and schedule impacts.
  • Advise stakeholders on the impacts of construction, system, and operational changes, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure and operational teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to define clear, constructible outcomes aligned with renewable energy standards.
    Mentor and develop project team members, maintaining a culture of collaboration, accountability, safety, and continuous learning within renewable energy project environments.
  • Coordinate onsite construction activities and perform quality control and assurance tasks.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive internal and external reports on project schedule, budget and cash forecasting, and safety performance.


Required Skills/Qualification: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience in project management, preferably in the civil or renewable energy sector.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, processes, and regulations, with a focus on safety and quality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Acumatica, SmartSheet).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred


Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Ability to travel to remote project sites when required.
