The Opportunity:
We are seeking an exceptionally experienced Director of Construction to lead and elevate our project management function across Northern Canada. With a minimum of 15 years of construction project management experience, you will serve as both the technical expert and the mentor who develops the next generation of project leaders at Solvest. You'll oversee Project Managers, providing day-to-day coaching, performance management, and skills development while also establishing the standardized processes, templates, and systems that will allow us to scale efficiently.
You'll also serve as the Senior Project Manager directly leading our most complex, high-value, and technically challenging projects, bringing your expertise to bear where it matters most. This dual role allows you to lead by example, mentor through real-world application, and maintain your technical edge while building organizational capability.
This position is preferred to be based in Whitehorse, YT, but may be performed remotely for candidates with proven high-quality leadership and tactical capabilities as a remote team member.
Employment Status: Permanent Full Time – 40 hours per week
Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year + annual profit share based on company profitability
Who You Are:
You're a construction veteran who has seen it all and you've built a career on turning complex challenges into successful outcomes. With 15+ years of project management experience under your belt, you're not just managing projects anymore; you're building the people and systems that make great projects possible.
You're a natural mentor who genuinely enjoys developing talent. You see potential in people and know how to unlock it through coaching, feedback, and hands-on guidance. Your leadership style is grounded in trust and empowerment, and you've proven you can elevate entire teams to perform at their best.
You're a systems thinker who understands that sustainable growth requires standardization. You don't just get the job done, you document how it's done, create templates for repeatability, and build processes that scale. You've likely worked in remote or challenging environments and understand the unique planning, logistics, and relationship-building required to succeed in those contexts.
You're comfortable operating at both the 30,000-foot strategic level and the boots-on-the-ground tactical level. You'll lead our most challenging projects directly, demonstrating best practices in real-time while mentoring your team through their own project challenges. You lead by example, and your team respects you because you're still in the trenches with them.
If you're looking for a role where your deep experience, mentorship abilities, and process-building mindset will shape the future of a growing renewable energy company, while still managing the projects that test your skills, this is your opportunity.
