The Opportunity:
Solvest is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer or qualified Electrical Engineer-in-Training!
Reporting to our CTO, you will ensure the accurate design of the electrical scope of large projects so that projects are completed safely, on budget and schedule. You will also facilitate the distribution of technical knowledge throughout the company so that we can continuously improve on project sales, construction and aftercare.

Employment Status: Permanent Full Time – 40 hours per week
Wage Range: $85,000 - $125,000 per year (based on experience and P.Eng designation) + annual profit-sharing bonus based on company performance.
Leave Entitlement: Four weeks of paid vacation to start (20 days) + 5 paid sick days per year.

Job Description (high level summary - not inclusive of all duties):
· Develop design and drawing standards for consistency across all Solvest projects.
· Collaborate with the business development team to standardize utility scale solar PV and microgrid system project designs and evaluate new technologies and products with a focus on safety, usability, reliability, and cost.
· Develop tin-house technical training standards and systems to allow for the distribution of technical knowledge throughout the company.
· Review the selection of electrical materials and equipment during procurement for large projects to ensure they comply with design drawings and Canadian Electrical Code or other standards in the project jurisdiction.
· Support and mentor Junior Project Managers in the planning and construction of large projects with a focus on the electrical scope of work.
· Coordinate with the Director of Large Projects and Director of Electrical to schedule Solvest personnel and equipment across projects under your direct supervision.
· Manage third-party engineering contractors performing specialized work such as System Impact Studies, Temporary Overvoltage studies, grounding studies, etc.
· Act as the main point of contact for clients, vendors, contractors and regulators for electrical design questions and issues.
· Develop and implement in-house electrical quality control and quality assurance processes and tasks for construction.
· Develop commissioning processes and tasks and client handover packages for large projects.
· Collaborate with the Director of Electrical to identify, develop and review Safe Work Practices
· Sign and seal electrical engineering drawings as Engineer of Record for Solvest projects where third-party engineering contractors are not used.
Required Skills/Qualification:
● Electrical Engineering Degree required.
● Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered in a Canadian jurisdiction with eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer in Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
● 5 years electrical engineering experience, including project management.
● Experience with medium voltage, utility interconnection and the solar industry preferred.
● Sound judgment in technical matters to solve technical problems and to make practical recommendations.
● Demonstrated knowledge of industry best practice engineering standards used in the design, construction, and commissioning of construction projects.
● Ability to work within cross-functional teams.
● Strong sense of creativity and innovation.
● Well versed with technology and software such as AutoCAD, Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
● Enthusiastic towards the environment, green energy, and the position.
