We’re hiring an Accountant to support the financial operations across Geller’s Design Build Landscape and Shelmerdine Garden Center. This role is split evenly between both organizations and plays a key part in ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining compliance, and keeping day-to-day accounting functions running smoothly.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working in the details, takes pride in clean and reliable financials, and values being a trusted partner to both internal teams and external advisors.

What You’ll Own: 

  • GST & PST filings across both Geller’s and Shelmerdine, ensuring accurate and timely monthly and quarterly submissions
  • Preparation and coordination of year-end tax packages, acting as the primary liaison with our third-party accounting firm and ensuring a smooth year-end process
  • Maintenance of accurate and compliant financial records in alignment with GAAP standards
  • Execution of month-end close processes, including detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigation of variances
  • Oversight of accounts payable and receivable functions, supporting and guiding the team to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and strong financial controls
  • Active participation in payroll administration, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with internal processes
  • Preparation of audit materials and supporting documentation, ensuring readiness and organization throughout audit processes
  • Creation and maintenance of core financial reporting, including balance sheets and profit & loss statements, providing clear visibility into business performance
  • Contribution to inventory management discussions, bringing a financial lens to operational decision-making
  • Participation in leadership meetings as needed, providing reliable financial insights and context to support decision-making
  • Development and administration of profit vs. budget reporting, helping track performance and identify opportunities or gaps
  • Ongoing monitoring of weekly cash flow, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to support strong financial health


What We’re Looking For:

  • 3–5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a full-cycle or multi-entity environment
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Diploma or Bachelor’s degree required)
  • CPA designation not required, but CPA coursework or intention to pursue is considered a strong asset
  • Solid understanding of core accounting principles (GAAP) and experience applying them in day-to-day work
  • Experience managing or supporting month-end close, including reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Comfort working with external accounting firms, auditors, and tax processes
  • Experience supporting or overseeing AP/AR and payroll functions
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and accountability
  • Ability to manage priorities across two businesses and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks and Excel (ability to work with reports, formulas, and data confidently)
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and explain financial information clearly
  • A proactive, dependable mindset,  someone who takes ownership and follows through
