Position Overview:

The Yard Associate is a seasonal, full-time role responsible for supporting daily yard operations from May 1 to November 1.

This position plays a critical role in loading materials, maintaining yard organization, assisting with inventory, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.

Success in this role is measured by safe material handling, accuracy in order fulfillment, and maintaining a clean, organized yard.


What You’ll Be Doing:

Yard Operations
  • Load and unload landscape materials, aggregates, and hardgoods
  • Prepare customer pickup orders accurately and efficiently
  • Assist drivers with staging and loading deliveries
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of yard, bins, and storage areas
  • Monitor inventory levels and report shortages
Equipment Operation
  • Safely operate forklifts, skid steers, loaders, and other yard equipment (training provided)
  • Perform daily equipment inspections
  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
Customer Support
  • Assist customers during material pickups
  • Provide courteous and professional service
  • Direct customer questions to sales staff as required
Safety & Maintenance
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures
  • Assist with seasonal yard transitions and cleanup

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–2 years of yard, warehouse, or construction-related experience preferred
  • Equipment operation experience is an asset
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Hours of Work

Hours will vary seasonally based on operational demand:

  • Busy periods may average 50+ hours per week
  • Slower periods may average 30 hours per week
  • Annual workload will not exceed 2,080 hours

Weekend work is required. To be successful in this role, effective delegation and staff training are essential to allow for time off during peak spring and summer seasons.
