Position Overview:

Do you have a passion for plants and gardening? We’re looking for friendly, motivated individuals to join our Perennial Team. This position offers a mix of customer service and plant care duties, and we’re happy to teach you all about perennials if you’re eager to learn. Whether you’re helping customers choose the right plants for their gardens, maintaining healthy perennials, or creating displays, you’ll play a key role in making our customers' gardening experience enjoyable and rewarding.

Position Details:

• Type: Seasonal, Full Time and Part Time
• Schedule: Days, Evenings, Weekends
• Location: Shelmerdine Garden Centre Ltd. (Must have own transportation—no bus service available)

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Ensuring the highest quality of perennials by maintaining plants, ensuring they are watered properly, bug-free, and disease-free
• Creating and maintaining attractive displays to entice customers and showcase perennials at their best
• Efficiently receiving, tagging, and organizing new plant shipments
• Helping customers select the perfect plants for their gardens and providing expert advice on care and maintenance
• Assisting customers with plant-related problems, troubleshooting, and offering practical solutions
• Educating customers on proper planting and watering techniques to help them succeed with their perennial purchases
• Working with customers to help them design their outdoor spaces and bring their garden visions to life
• Work with Outdoor Sales Team (Nursery) members when needed. Cross-training between both departments will further your knowledge of hardy plants within Manitoba and how they work together in landscape designs

What We’re Looking For:

• Driver’s license or ability to commute to Headingley, MB.
• A passion for plants and gardening, with a willingness to learn more about perennials
• Previous plant knowledge is an asset, but not required—training is provided
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage and guide customers
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Physically able to work on your feet for extended periods and lift plants and materials
