Position Overview:

Are you passionate about plants, creating outdoor spaces and helping customers bring their gardening visions to life? We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic, sales-driven individuals to join our Outdoor Nursery Team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys engaging with customers, providing expert advice on trees, and shrubs, hard work and problem-solving skills.  If you love working outdoors, have a knack for problem-solving, and thrive in a fast paced retail setting, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

Position Details:

• Type: Seasonal, Full-Time or Part Time
• Schedule: Days, Weekends, Evenings
• Location: Shelmerdine Garden Centre Ltd. (Must have own transportation—no bus service available)

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Driving sales through customer engagement, interacting with customers, asking the right questions, and recommending the best trees, shrubs and landscaping solutions for their needs.
• Creating an unforgettable shopping experience by providing expert product knowledge, offer advice on plant care, and ensure customers leave feeling confident about their purchases.
• Unloading and organizing products from supplier trucks
• Working outdoors, even in inclement weather

• Loading bagged product into customer vehicles
• Creating invoices for deliveries and installations, payments taken later by cashiers only
• Assisting around the building and yard with various duties including light maintenance and service, helping customers to their vehicles with heavy or bulky products, and maintaining curb appeal of the store
• Maintaining plants, including watering and pruning trees and shrubs as needed
• Troubleshooting and fixing problems as they arise, especially when working with the team or with customers
• Design and maintain attractive displays to showcase products and drive sales.

What We’re Looking For:

• Passion for sales and customer service.
• Driver’s license or ability to commute to Headingley, MB
• Knowledge of plants and gardening (or a willingness to learn), previous plant knowledge is considered an asset, but training is provided. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a mechanical mindset for troubleshooting
• Physically fit and able to lift 50-75lbs comfortably
• Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions
• Forklift license is an asset but not required
