Thriving Non-Profits is a program of Scale Collaborative. It has been delivered to over 250 organizations across Canada and is growing.

Thriving Non-Profits supports non-profit organizations and charities to develop financial resiliency through an entrepreneurial mindset and diversifying revenue streams. The Thriving Non-Profits Cohort Program continues to expand into more regions across Canada and would like to engage with coaches with a diversity of experiences and regions. The coaching is done online and continually is identified through evaluations as an incredibly valuable part of the cohort experience.

The Thriving Non-Profits Bilingual Coach is responsible for providing coaching in French and/or English to up to five organizations participating in the cohort program to help support the development of their revenue diversification plan and present that strategy to the cohort.

Compensation: $60 per hour + GST

Coaching Expectations per Season

Coaching Session Preparation (2hrs per org) - Learn about each organization's mission, current state, challenges etc.

Coaching Sessions (7hrs per org) - Each organization receives 7 hours of coaching per cohort

Coaching Gatherings (2hrs per season) - Community of practice held twice per season

Module 8 Session Attendance (5hrs per season) - Provide live feedback and advice about organization's final presentations

Administration (1hr per season) - E.g. filling in tracker, emails, managing appointments, etc.

Community Event (optional) (2hrs per season) - Opportunity to present your expertise at a monthly Community event

Feedback and Promotion (1hr per season) - Let us know how things are going, promote the program and/or coaching platform

Qualifications:

  • You have a passion for and a deep understanding of the non-profit and charity sector
  • You have in-depth experience being or are currently an Executive Director, senior staff, or Board Member of a non-profit
  • You have experience coaching and/or are a natural coach
  • You have experience with entrepreneurial thinking within non-profits and charities
  • You have experience with non-profits and charities' revenue streams, including traditional streams (donations, grants, events, contracts) and fee for services, social enterprises, assets, asset acquisition, partnerships and/or other innovative ways, such as mergers or acquisitions
  • You are interested in providing coaching at various times of the year
  • You are looking to share your expertise and increase positive social, environmental, and cultural impact
  • Bilingual Proficiency: You are fluent in both French and English, with strong communication skills in both languages, to effectively support French-speaking organizations in Canada.

  • You are excited to coach and engage/share your experiences/expertise with Alumni online (Thriving Non-Profits Community Hub), which builds the capacity of all Alumni and be an ambassador for the program

Coaching Hours:

  • Will vary depending on the number of organizations you coach per cohort (range is 3-5)
  • Three organizations: 35 hours; Four organizations: 43 hours; Five organizations: 51 hours
  • Each cohort runs for five months, so the hours of coaching would be over those five months
  • Most coaching hours are flexible on days and length of sessions
  • Cohorts run from January to June(spring), May to October (summer), and from September to February (fall). There is flexibility in which cohorts you coach

The Thriving Non-Profits team will provide you with ongoing coaching support:

  • We do the lead generation on coaching opportunities for you
  • Coaching expectations and coaching delivery are outlined in advance of each cohort
  • Gather and set up a Google shared folder on each organization you are coaching with documentation and information, such as financials and strategic plans, you may need for coaching
  • Provide continual access and update shared Google folder throughout the program with the processes and activities organizations go through so you are well informed of how things are going within the learning sessions for your organizations
  • Provide ongoing digital and technical support to the organizations you coach on online platforms, folders, etc.
  • Provide you with access to the online learning platform
  • Analyze organizations and match your skill set to particular organizations for coaching
  • Provide email introduction to your organizations and provide ongoing support as needed
  • Host two Coaches gatherings of Thriving Non-Profits coaches per cohort to build connections and capacity and share and learn from each other
