About the Position

As a co-op student, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our Associates and Managers to gain an understanding of what it means to work in a Public Accounting Firm.

You will apply your knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNFPO), increase your exposure to a wide variety of accounting software, and develop your communication, conflict-resolution, and confidence.

  • Prepare compilations and assurance working papers
  • Prepare corporate tax returns (T2s)
  • Prepare personal tax returns (T1s)
  • Prepare trust tax returns (T3s)
  • Prepare income slip returns for corporate clients (T4s and T5s)
  • Extract data with QuickBooks
  • Create financial statements with CaseWare and CaseView
  • Prepare tax returns using TaxPrep modules
  • Track your work and billing with CCH iFirm
  • Support your co-workers in audit teams and a team environment
  • Collaborate with your team to gather data to complete your work
  • Build relationships with clients by corresponding through professional emails, phone calls, and in-person
  • Import trial balances
  • Establish charts of accounts
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Review and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents, and reports
  • Assess materiality for assets and liabilities
  • Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other relevant reports


Co-op terms

We are open to students for 4-month co-ops to 16-month co-ops; January - April 30th, is the busy season where co-ops get the greatest exposure to opportunities.
