Reporting to the Rugby Development Manager, the Rugby Development Intern is a member of the Rugby Operations department. The position will focus on delivering key parts of Rugby Ontario’s new Strategic Plan. The Rugby Development Intern will assist Rugby Ontario in achieving the strategic objectives to support the Club Community and Build Belonging. This position provides a critical and fundamental service to support Rugby Ontario’s community of Clubs.
Position Details:
· Unpaid Internship
· 240-560 Hours to be completed over the course of the internship
o NOTE: please indicate hours of availability in application.
· Hybrid work environment – remote four (4) days a week, in office minimum of one (1) day a week in the Rugby Ontario office if possible. (Office Address: Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre – 875 Morningside Ave, Toronto, ON)
· Some additional days, such as event days will require being onsite.
What you’ll be doing
Under the leadership of the Rugby Development Manager, this role is responsible for supporting all aspects of the Rugby Development portfolio including the Virtual Winter Club Development Series, Rugby Development Consultant Network, Community Rugby initiatives, development resource creation, and administration of Rugby Development projects and events. This includes building a close working relationship with other members of the Rugby Ontario team and relevant community and club stakeholders, partners and committees. This coupled with excellent organizational and communication skills, will be essential to the successful achievement of this position’s objectives. At the core, we are seeking an organized sport developer with a passion to grow this invaluable part of the rugby community.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· Data entry, analyzing, and management of community rugby data
· Create reports and presentations
· Support the review and implementation of Club Rules & Regulations
· Work with Communications Staff to produce content for Rugby Ontario Newsletter and Website and support development communications strategy
· Planning and preparation of Club Development webinars and education sessions
· Assist with the creation and implementation of programs and resources to support Club Development, including volunteer management and development, community programming, player retention and transition, club governance, and strategic planning among others.
· Build and maintain relationships with and communicate with stakeholders both internal and external
· Additional duties as required.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
· Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
· Current, clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector required.
· Valid Driver’s License and the ability / willingness to travel.
· Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
· Exceptional planning, analytical and reporting skills.
· Self-directed and results oriented with the ability to multi-task and problem solve.
· Proficient computer skills using both Mac and PC, and Microsoft Office, including competency creating presentations (e.g. PowerPoint).
· Experience organizing and facilitating group meetings (online / in-person) and managing all relevant logistics.
· Ability to work within a flexible schedule and in a remote work environment setting.
· Demonstrated strong values and ethics, in accordance with Rugby Ontario’s organizational values (and other Rugby Ontario policies), through personal and professional behaviours.
· Post-secondary level of education in a related field of study is an asset.
· Prior experience working in a sport organization is an asset.
· Knowledge of Rugby Ontario and the Ontario rugby community is an asset.
· Demonstrated experience working with and supporting volunteers and/or in customer service is an asset.
