JOB DETAILS:

We are currently accepting resumes for Sprinkler Fitter for work in our RMWB Project. This will be a project-based position with 10 days on 4 days off rotation schedule.

"This is a union-required position. Candidates must be members of a recognized union in Calgary or Edmonton. "

Position Requirements:

A Sprinkler Fitter is responsible for the maintenance, service, and repair of fire protection systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, and suppression systems, as well as fire pumps and backflow devices. What makes you valuable?

  • Installing, modifying, and removing fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA guidelines, including water-based fire protection systems, wet and dry sprinkler systems, fire pumps, standpipes, hydrants, backflow preventers, and special hazard systems
  • Reviewing plans and specifications, preparing cost estimates for labour and materials for installation projects.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and project plans to determine system layouts and installation requirements.
  • Assembling, fitting, and securing pipes, valves, and associated components for fire protection systems.
  • Performing system commissioning, pressure testing, and flushing of newly installed fire protection systems, including hydrant flow tests and glycol fill/removal as required.
  • Performing commissioning and startup of main firewater lines, standpipe, and hose systems.
  • Installing and configuring fire pumps, standpipes, hoses, PIVs, monitors, and control valves to meet project specifications.
  • Assisting in the installation, maintenance, and operation of fire systems and components.
  • Coordinating with other trades and project teams to ensure proper system integration and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Performing work in accordance with company and client safety procedures, as well as O.H. & S. Acts and Regulations.
  • Actively participating in the development of Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) and Safe Work Practices relevant to the position.
  • Attending to emergency calls as required.
  • Ensuring all work meets NFPA codes, industry regulations, and client specifications.
  • Documenting all installation and removal activities as per project and regulatory requirements

Qualifications: What do we value?

  • Red Seal Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter with 3 plus years industry experience.
  • Registered Apprentice Sprinkler Fitter any level.
  • Fire Pump Operations and Maintenance Training certification required.
  • Experience in testing and servicing Fire Pumps, PIV, Standpipes and Fire Hydrants.
  • Experienced in the Install/ Service/ Repair of Wet and dry pr - action, deluge and specialty Fire Suppression Systems.
  • Experience in Water-Based Fire Protection Systems.
  • Good oral/ written communications & Good computer skills
  • Good knowledge of NFPA 25, the Standard for Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection systems.
  • This position is safety sensitive

Additional Requirements for All Candidates:

  • Valid safety certifications (e.g., CSO, WHMIS 2015, CSTS 09, Fall Protection, Confine Space Monitor & Entry, Advance Rigging Certificate, EWP, H2S Alive, APR-Fit Test, Advance Rigging).
  • Ability to work in remote locations and adapt to shift schedules.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
