Fire Protection Senior Designer

We specialize in risk assessment, mitigation planning, process safety engineering, and the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of fire alarm and suppression systems. Our services adhere to ULC and NFPA standards, encompassing various fire protection systems and comprehensive inspections.

Role Description

· Design automatic fire sprinkler systems in accordance with the requirements of current codes (building code & NFPA)

· Preparation of general arrangement drawings using AutoCAD & HydraCAD/AutoSPRINK software

· Complete hydraulic calculations utilizing HydraCAD or AutoSPRINK software to determine sprinkler head selection, piping sizes, fire pump sizes

· Conduct fire protection assessment utilizing AFT Fathom software

· Coordinate fire protection piping layouts with other trades such as HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Structural, etc.

· Prepare material orders and fabrication documents based on the fire protection drawings

· Review fire protection designs prepared by others, ensuring designs are safe, efficient, effective, and practical

· Participate in project meetings with project managers & other trades for project coordination

Qualifications

· University/collage degree or High School diploma

· At least 2-5 years experience in mechanical, electrical, or fire protection design

· Strong understanding of NFPA standards, Building Code, and FM Global guidelines

· Working experience of AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks is required

· Working experience of HydraCAD, AutoSprink or equivalent sprinkler design

· Working experience of AFT Fathom or equivalent hydraulic analysis design

· Working experience of 3D drafting, BIM, Revit would be considered an asset

· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
