As the Payments and Fraud Manager at RockWallet, you will be part of RockWallet’s growing presence in Europe. You will be primarily responsible for developing and implementing strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate potential fraud risks. The Payments Manager will be initially managing the work, not a team.
This is a full-time, remote position with a preference for candidates based in Canada.

Reporting to the Director of Payments, the Payments and Fraud Manager will be responsible for the following duties and obligations:
Responsibilities
Innovate Our Fraud Prevention Framework:
- Design, refine, and implement robust fraud prevention rules, policies, frameworks, and methodologies across both emerging digital assets and traditional payment channels.
- Develop and execute strategies specific to Visa, Mastercard, and Alternative Payment Methods (APMs), including chargeback prevention, representment processes, and managing card scheme fraud levels.
- Identify and drive high-impact team projects that systematically mitigate payment and fraud risks while supporting sustainable business growth.
- Leverage your advanced knowledge of crypto, analytics, and investigation tools to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
Data-Driven Risk Management:
- Own key performance indicators (KPIs), continually monitoring risk trends and overseeing detailed reporting on fraud incidents.
- Lead both structured and ad hoc investigations, translating complex data insights into actionable strategies to counter emerging fraud patterns.
Collaborative Compliance & Innovation:
- Collaborate with business partners to resolve intricate customer and product challenges, ensuring full compliance with internal policies and partner requirements.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, continually updating our fraud prevention protocols to maintain a cutting-edge stance.
- Guide a team of analysts, helping them refine their skills and expand their technical expertise
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in payments or fraud risk management, within financial services or the crypto sector.
- Proficiency with Excel, SQL and data visualization tools is required.
- Relevant certifications in fraud detection and prevention are a plus.
- Proficiency in advanced crypto analytics, blockchain investigations, and tools such as Chainalysis is an asset.
- A deep understanding of fraud prevention best practices, risk policy frameworks, and industry-standard technologies.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing fraud across diverse payment systems, including hands-on experience with Visa, Mastercard, and APM-related fraud—covering chargeback prevention, representment, and card scheme fraud levels.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex payment data and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Ability to balance risk reduction with enabling business growth, adept at prioritizing initiatives with the highest impact on fraud prevention. .
- Responsive, diligent, resilient, and persistent in approach.
- Disciplined self-starter with the ability to work independently and effectively with minimum supervision.
- Proficient problem-solver, strong active listener, and committed to continuous team improvement.
- Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
