Position Summary:
In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing intuitive, visually engaging, and player-centric interfaces that enhance gameplay and immersion. You’ll collaborate closely with game designers, artists, and engineers to concept, develop, and implement high-quality UI assets, animations, and workflows, working with UX wireframes and prototypes that align with the game’s artistic vision and usability goals.
As a key contributor, you'll champion and drive the UI strategy, ensuring accessibility, clarity, and responsiveness across multiple platforms. Your expertise in aesthetics, graphic design, and animation/VFX, with an understanding of player psychology and interaction design, will help shape engaging experiences that keep players immersed in our worlds.
Based on the studio's needs, this role may be structured as either a regular full-time role or a 6-month full-time contract.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Lead UI/UX Designer, Art Director, Lead/Design Director, and Production Team to bring the vision for game UI and overall player experience to life
- Conceptualize and create designs that adhere to the current style and overall art direction
- Design and implement high-quality UI assets and layouts in Unreal Engine
- Maintain and update UI style guides
- Ensure UI scalability and responsiveness across a range of screen resolutions
- Ensure that the UI meets accessibility goals, responsiveness, and consistency across various screen sizes, devices, and considerations for multiple platforms
- Collaborate with cross-disciplines to implement UI, ensuring accuracy and alignment with UX and game design expectations
- Participate in playtests to observe the effectiveness of UI usability, and collaborate with UX to create solutions from feedback
- Support bug fixes, implementation, and polish UI assets
- Considerations and awareness of UX sensibilities in both game design and usability; can delineate between UX and UI solutions
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional experience as a UI/UX Designer in the video game industry
- Strong graphic design background with skills in composition, color theory, and art fundamentals
- Proficient in graphic design and prototyping tools such as Adobe Photoshop or equivalent industry standard, Figma, etc.
- Strong expertise in Unreal Engine
- Passion for gaming and deep knowledge of player behavior and usability principles
- Ability to communicate complex game information clearly through simple and smart UI designs that reinforce UX design
- Comfortable working in an iterative, feedback-driven team environment
- Strong team collaboration skills, working with designers and engineers to ensure the best user experience
- Self-motivated and able to work independently to meet deadlines and milestone requirements
- High attention to detail and well-organized
- Strong visualization and documentation skills

Pluses:
- Resident of Ontario or Quebec, Canada
- A love and understanding of JRPGs
- Experience with shipping a new title for consoles and PC games from concept to launch
- Familiarity with Steam, PlayStation, and Microsoft gaming technical guidelines and constraints
Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 CAD
