Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Estimator to support projects in the bid stage by preparing accurate and competitive equipment quotations. This role focuses on quote building, reviewing specifications, coordinating equipment selection and managing documentation. You will work closely with contractors, engineers, manufacturers, and Riada’s internal sales team to review specifications and develop pricing.
Success in this role requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical information while managing multiple quotes in a fast-paced environment. Duties
Estimating & Tender Support
- Review mechanical specifications, drawings, and tender documents
- Prepare equipment quotations for contractors, engineers, and owners
- Perform takeoffs and quantify required equipment and materials
- Support the team during bid closing periods and tender submissions
- Manage multiple active bids and ensure timely, accurate submissions
- Clearly document all assumptions, inclusions/exclusions, and key decisions within each estimate to ensure transparency, traceability, and effective project handoff
Pricing & Manufacturer Coordination
- Coordinate with manufacturers to confirm pricing, lead times, and product availability
- Ensure quotations align with technical specifications and project requirements
- Identify risks, specification conflicts, and missing information
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date pricing records and supplier communication
Technical Review & Equipment Selection
- Assist in selecting appropriate HVAC, pump, and hydronic equipment
- Interpret project specifications to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Collaborate with internal team members and manufacturers on product applications
- Develop a strong understanding of Riada’s product portfolio over time
Sales & Client Support
- Support the sales team with pricing, revisions, and value engineering requests
- Respond to customer inquiries related to equipment, pricing, and scope
- Assist with addenda, bid clarifications, and scope adjustments
- Help ensure competitive and well-structured proposals
Process & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain and improve estimating templates, tools, and workflows
- Support development of standardized estimating practices
- Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and turnaround time
- Contribute to building a scalable and structured estimating function
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 0–3 years of relevant experience (co-op or internship experience is an asset)
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications (or willingness to learn)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with Adobe or similar tools is an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
