Role Overview
This is a multifaceted, client-facing role that goes beyond traditional service work. The Service Leader is the face of Riada onsite—responsible for maintaining system performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and connecting field insights back to the broader Riada team.
You will work closely with contractors, building owners, engineers, and Riada’s internal sales and technical teams to deliver proactive service, trusted guidance, and long-term value.
Key Responsibilities
Service & Preventative Maintenance
- Plan and execute preventative maintenance programs for mechanical systems.
- Perform scheduled inspections, servicing, and performance evaluations.
- Complete detailed service reports with clear recommendations and follow-up actions.
- Identify potential system risks and propose corrective measures before failures occur.
Start-Up, Commissioning & Owner Support
- Provide start-up assistance and commissioning support for new equipment.
- Conduct owner demonstrations and training sessions.
- Support contractors during system turnover, warranty periods, and ongoing service requirements.
Technical Troubleshooting
Diagnose, service, and support equipment including (based on qualifications):
- Pumps
- Boilers
- Heat pumps
- Domestic water heaters
- Controls and instrumentation
- Booster systems
You will also coordinate parts, materials, and warranty items as needed to ensure timely resolution and system continuity.
Client Relationships & Field Leadership
- Act as a trusted advisor to Riada’s customers and partners.
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and confidently onsite.
- Build long-term relationships with owners, contractors, and consultants.
- Understand the bigger picture—how service, maintenance, parts, and future upgrades connect.
- Identify opportunities through observation and experience, without aggressive sales tactics, and relay insights back to the Riada team.
Engineering Support & Consulting
- Collaborate with Riada’s technical sales and engineering teams.
- Provide field feedback to support system improvements and future designs.
- Assist with training initiatives and ongoing technical support efforts.

The ideal candidate:

- Communicates technical concepts clearly to both contractors and building owners.
- Builds relationships naturally and understands the service-driven customer environment.
- Thinks beyond the immediate repair and understands long-term lifecycle value.
- Takes pride in quality workmanship, documentation, and follow-through.
- Recognizes opportunities through experience and proactive service—not pushy sales.
Qualifications
Required
- 3-5+ years of experience servicing commercial or institutional mechanical systems.
- Strong knowledge of hydronic heating, domestic hot water, and HVAC-related systems.
- Proven troubleshooting ability and strong mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (BC).
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout BC for service and project support.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and service documentation tools.
- Physically capable of performing field work, including lifting and carrying equipment up to 50–75 lbs.
- Valid Refrigerant Handling / ODP Certificate, OR Red Seal Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic, OR Refrigeration Apprentice.
Preferred
Licensed Journeyman Plumber, ticketed with one of the following:
- Gas
- Boiler, Pressure Vessel & Refrigeration (BPVR)
- Electrical
- Familiarity with equipment from manufacturers such as:
- PVI – Domestic Water Systems
- Lync – Heat Pump Systems
- Grundfos – Pumping & Hydronics
- Tempeff – Air Handling Systems
- (or similar manufacturers)
Compensation will vary based on the number and type of qualifications held.
