Contract Administrator – Mechanical

GeneralFull TimeCalgary, AB

Where mechanical design meets construction execution.

Remedy Engineering is hiring a Contract Administrator – Mechanical to support the construction phase of building systems projects and help ensure design intent is carried through to successful completion.

This is a full-time, in-office role in Calgary, ideal for mechanically inclined professionals with strong site experience who are ready to transition into contract administration, or for early-career CAs looking to deepen their technical and field exposure with mentorship and support.

The Role

As a Contract Administrator, you’ll play a critical role during construction, acting as the connective tissue between design, site execution, contractors, and clients. You’ll bring a practical, solutions-focused mindset to the field, ensuring mechanical systems are installed correctly, issues are addressed early, and projects move forward with clarity and confidence.

This role offers hands-on exposure to construction-phase engineering, with guidance from experienced designers and project managers. Prior contract administration experience is an asset, but not a requirement - strong mechanical field experience and a willingness to learn matter most.

Responsibilities:

Construction & Contract Administration

  • Represent both client and contractor interests fairly and professionally, aligning site work with design intent and contract documents
  • Attend regular site meetings to review progress, resolve issues, and coordinate next steps
  • Prepare clear, written site review and inspection reports outlining deficiencies, progress items, and follow-up actions

Technical Oversight

  • Review mechanical installations for general compliance with applicable codes, standards, and drawings
  • Identify non-conformance or coordination issues early and escalate as required
  • Witness and document testing, commissioning, and equipment start-ups

Documentation & Coordination

  • Review and coordinate:
    • Shop drawings
    • As-built drawings
    • Record drawings prior to CAD processing
  • Coordinate site instructions and change notices between contractors and design teams
  • Review and approve progress draws

Project Closeout

  • Support project closeout activities, including:
    • Deficiency reviews
    • Record drawings
    • Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals

Experience to Show on Your Resume

We’re seeking candidates with hands-on mechanical and HVAC experience and exposure to construction sites. Contract administration experience is an asset, not a requirement.

On your resume, we’re looking for:

  • Experience in mechanical or HVAC construction, installation, or field coordination
  • On-site work with contractors or trades
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping, equipment)
  • Exposure to one or more of the following:
    • Shop drawings or submittals
    • As-built or record drawings
    • Site meetings or field reviews
    • Testing, commissioning, or start-ups
  • Clear communication and follow-through
  • Strong attention to detail

Candidates with solid field or HVAC backgrounds who are interested in contract administration are encouraged to apply.

What We’ll Explore in the Interview

The interview will focus on how you navigate construction-phase work and collaborate on site.

We’ll explore:

  • Your experience with HVAC and mechanical systems during construction
  • How you communicate with contractors and project teams
  • How you identify issues and align site work with design intent
  • Your comfort reviewing drawings, site conditions, and progress
  • How you stay organized across site reviews and reports
  • Your interest in contract administration and professional growth

We’re looking for good judgment, curiosity, and practical problem-solving.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation
  • Mentorship and on-the-job training
  • Professional development support
  • A practical, respectful team environment
  • Meaningful involvement in real-world projects
