The Role: Mechanical and Electric Manager
The Mechanical and Electrical Manager is responsible for overseeing all mechanical and electric scopes across the project lifecycle, ensuring systems are designed, coordinated and executed to the highest standards of quality, safety and performance. Working closely with project managers, site teams, consultants and trade partners, this role provides technical expertise and leadership in planning, reviewing, and managing M &E installations. This position also conducts regular site visits.
What You’ll Do:
· Review mechanical and electrical drawings, specifications and consultant designs for accuracy and constructability.
· Identify design gaps, and potential issues early while also proposing effective solutions.
· Oversee and coordinate all mechanical and electrical subcontractors to ensure smooth integration of all systems.
· Manage sequencing of M &E activities to align with overall project schedule and critical path
· Ensure proper installation methods, material quality and adhere to project requirements
· Monitor progress of M& E work and provide regular updates to the project teams
· Conduct routine site inspections to ensure installations meets design intent, code requirements and quality standards.
· Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, life safety and building automation systems.
· Coordinate closely with project managers, superintendents, consultants and subcontracts to maintain strong communication and alignment.
· Attend site meetings and lead M&E specific discussions, providing clear direction and updates
· Assist in compiling turnover documentation.
What You’ll Need:
· Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
· Professional Engineering( P.Eng) is an asset.
· Additional training or certification in project management, construction management or building systems is an asset
· Knowledge of local building codes, electrical code, mechanical standards and industry best practices.
· In depth understanding of mechanical and electrical systems including HVAC, plumbing fire protection and electrical distribution.
· Experience reviewing and coordinating shop drawings, RFI’s , change orders and commissioning documentation.
· Familiarity with construction scheduling, sequencing of building systems and M &E integration.
· Proven ability to coordinate multiple trades across various project stages.
· Strong problem solving skills with an ability to identify issues early and implement effective solutions
· Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks and maintain structure in fast- paced construction environments.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills with working through technical issues
· Must possess computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (experience with project management software an asset)
· Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
