Chief Technology Officer
Nomad Compute PLCFull TimeUnited KingdomRemote£160,000 - £220,000 GBP per year
Nomad Compute PLC is building a globally positioned AI infrastructure platform designed for customers seeking distributed, globally deployable alternatives. Instead of tethering customers to a physical warehouse, we focus on containerized, relocatable, high-performance compute environments. Governments, enterprises, industrial operators, and sovereign partners are increasingly looking for infrastructure that offers greater flexibility, regional control, data sovereignty, and deployment independence. In a world where access to AI infrastructure is increasingly monopolized by a small number of hyperscalers, we’re providing a solution in which access and flexibility are at the core of what we do.
Nomad Compute deploys modular GPU compute containers that can operate off-grid and relocate globally as demand shifts. We deploy at locations where stranded energy, data residency requirements, or proximity create real, structural advantages over traditional centralized cloud. This infrastructure is designed for enterprise, telecom, industrial, energy, and government AI workloads across international markets.
Nomad Compute PLC is publicly listed on the Aquis Stock Exchange Growth Market under ticker NMD. The company has recently secured financing to accelerate deployment, secure strategic OEM relationships, expand technical leadership, and launch initial infrastructure rollouts.
We are looking for a CTO to architect and build the company's technical foundation. As CTO, you will serve as the company's highest-ranking technical executive, leading technical architecture, infrastructure strategy, product development, OEM partnerships, deployment systems, engineering recruitment, and technical execution globally.
You will define how modular and distributed AI infrastructure is built over the next decade.
Who You Are
You’re a hybrid: someone who has spent years in traditional data centre development, the electrical, mechanical, and thermal fundamentals of building physical infrastructure, and who has also crossed over into chip or GPU design or development. You understand both halves of the problem: how to physically house and cool dense compute, and how the compute itself is designed and built.
You understand how these two things connect directly. Older chip generations run hotter and demand heavier cooling infrastructure. Newer chips run cooler, need less supporting infrastructure, and are far more mobile as a result, which is central to what makes a modular, relocatable model like Nomad's possible.
You command a room technically. You can hold your own with any engineer, chip designer, customer, or supplier in this space, and you do it with real depth on both the infrastructure and the hardware side.
You blend experience from the following:
- Traditional data centre development, electrical, mechanical, and thermal engineering
- Crypto mining infrastructure, particularly where you were involved in cooling technology, including immersion cooling
- GPU or chip design and development, ideally including direct experience through the recent surge in GPU-driven compute demand
- Modular or containerized infrastructure systems
- NeoCloud or GPU cloud infrastructure companies
You have:
- 15 to 20 years of progressive experience in data centre or infrastructure engineering, followed by direct exposure to or ownership of chip or GPU design work
- 10+ years of senior leadership experience influencing technical product strategy and design
- Built large-scale infrastructure systems from the ground up
- Owned the end-to-end NPI Stage-Gate process, from engineering requirements through commercial launch
- Managed OEM engineering relationships with both overseas and onshore manufacturers
- Worked with power, cooling, networking, hardware reliability, and deployment logistics
- Served as the primary technical voice with strategic AI infrastructure customers, presenting and defending technical positions in deeply technical environments
- Partnered with an executive team to shape product strategy, P&L decisions, and the long-term technology roadmap
- Led technical teams in fast-moving or high-growth environments
- Worked comfortably inside startup ambiguity and rapid execution cycles
- Recruited and led strong technical talent
What You’ll Get:
- A significant opportunity to help build one of the defining sovereign AI infrastructure platforms, at a moment when the market is still being shaped.
- Genuine technical autonomy. You will architect the infrastructure, build the engineering team, and own the technical roadmap, with full Board backing and a founder who operates collaboratively.
- Meaningful equity participation and a compensation structure designed for exceptional technical talent, with a clear path to value creation as the company scales.
- Publicly listed platform (Aquis: NMD) with recent financing secured, OEM relationships in motion, and initial deployments underway.
- International mandate from day one, with the ability to architect and deploy globally distributed AI infrastructure across European, Commonwealth, Middle Eastern, and emerging market channels.
- Opportunity to become a recognised technical voice in the global conversation around AI sovereignty, data independence, and infrastructure alternatives to the hyperscalers.
- Base salary (CAD) $230,000 - $300,000 | (UK) £160,000 – £220,000
- Globally remote role - we’re looking for the best candidate, regardless of location.
